Nobody asked for a supposed “beat down”. This travesty is all of Trump’s making. Trump is a bully plain and simple. Sooner or later he is going to push too far and things are going to go into the shitter.
The highlight from Davos. Trump shows us how unhinged he really is.

1. He was late
Trump was already on his way to Switzerland when Air Force One was forced to turn around due to a "minor electrical problem".
On return to Andrews Air Force Base he switched to a backup 737 and set off again. But he was so late arriving in Davos that he had to skip the usual photo op for keynote speakers and amble straight up to the podium to give his speech.
2. Trump, 79, looked like he was about to keel over
Trump looked extremely wobbly as he delivered his keynote speech to a silent room of the world's political and economic elite. At points he genuinely looked like he was struggling to deliver the speech. In fairness he's had a rough couple of nights of travelling. On Monday he was at a late night college football game in Florida and didn't get back to the White House until 2am. Then he did his insanely long press conference yesterday, jumped straight on a plane and landed here. He's an elderly man who has no idea what time zone he is in.
3. He had a pop at the UK ...again
During his speech he spent an extremely long stretch of his speech attacking the UK over windmills.
Windmills, Trump argued, are "losers", bought by "stupid people."
Singling out Britain, he said: "The UK produces just one third of the energy it produced in 1999...and they're sitting on top of the North Sea, one of the greatest reserves anywhere in the world. But they don't use it and that's one reason why their energy has reached catastrophically low levels."
Can't imagine that has anything to do with Keir Starmer, an hour or so earlier, publicly standing up to Trump over Greenland.
"Britain will not yield on our principles and values about the future of Greenland under threats of tariffs, and that is my clear position," Starmer said at Prime Minister's Questions.
Speaking of Greenland...
4. He set out his argument for why Greenland should belong to the US
Trump set out his argument for why Denmark should just hand over "right, title and ownership" of Greenland to the US.
He branded Denmark "ungrateful" for the protection the US gave the territory during World War II - and claimed Denmark, a Nato ally, is not capable of defending it.
Describing Greenland as a "big piece of ice" that couldn't really be called an island, he said: "After the war, which we won, we won it big - if it weren't for us you'd all be speaking German and a little Japanese perhaps. After the war we gave Greenland back to Denmark, how stupid were we to do that? But we gave it back and how ungrateful are they now?"
5. He 'ruled out' using force...but it still sounded like a threat
"We never ask for anything and we never got anything, we probably won't get anything unless I decide to use excessive strength and force," he went on.
"We would be frankly unstoppable, but I won't do that. That's probably the biggest statement I made. Because people thought I would use force. I don't want to use force. I don't have to use force. All the United States is asking for is a place called Greenland, which we already had it as a trustee, but respectfully returned it after we defeated the Germans, the Japanese, the Italians and others in World War II. We gave it back to them. We were a powerful force then and we're a much more powerful force now."
He went on to make a chilling threat: "So we want a piece of ice for world protection. And they won't give it. We've never asked for anything else, and we could have kept that piece of land and we didn't. So they have a choice. You can say yes, and we will be very appreciative. Or you can say no and we will remember."
6. He kept calling it Iceland
On at least four occasions during the speech, Trump referred to Greenland as Iceland.
Between that, his slurred delivery and his drooping eyelids, it was not a good day for people arguing Trump, 79, is not struggling with the demands of the Presidency.
7. He told a really long story about Swiss watches
Speaking in Switzerland, Trump told a story about the country that he said “rubbed me the wrong way.”
He said Switzerland makes beautiful Rolex watches, but “were paying nothing to the United States” to export them. So, he set a tariff, which he said caused representatives from the country and the company to call and visit him and urge him to reverse it.
He brought down the tariff, but said he felt the country was “taking advantage” of the U.S.
“A majority of the money they make is because of us, because we never charge them anything,” he said.
8. He had a pop at Emmanuel Macron for wearing sunglasses
Trump mocked French President Emmanuel Macron’s sunglasses to audience’s laughter. “I watched him yesterday with those beautiful sunglasses. What the hell happened?” Trump said. The French president has worn sunglasses indoors in recent days as he’s joked about a “completely harmless” eye condition.
