This is an exercise? Trump has done nothing but corrupt election fairness since he first got creamed in the popular vote by Hillary.
How about some fair and honest elections here?

Will Trump attempt to 'nationalize' (steal?) Russian oil assets in Venezuela...like he says Venezuela did to the US?
Russia's Roszarubezhneft firm said that all the company's assets in Venezuela were the property of Russia and it would stick to its commitments to international partners there, TASS news agency reported.
In November, Venezuela's National Assembly approved a 15-year extension of the joint ventures between state company PDVSA and a unit of Russia's Roszarubezhneft that operate two oilfields in the South American country's western region.

Hmmm... oil prices are jumping based on concerns of Trump action in Iran (heightened geopolitical risks).
Maybe this is part of Trump's plan to get oil prices high enough to make Venezuelan crude practical to extract (breakeven costs have been estimated at $80+ per barrel)
I suppose he may not have figured out this will contradict his 'cheap gas' stories.
Anecdotal only but in DFW area gas dropped to around the $2/gal mark but has rebounded to the mid $2.35/gal range.

Semafor reporting first Venezuelan oil sale
https://www.semafor.com/article/01/1...ceeds-in-qatar
The Trump administration’s first sale of Venezuelan oil is valued at $500 million, an administration official told Semafor.
Revenue from the oil sales is currently being held in bank accounts controlled by the US government, as indicated in Friday’s order, according to the administration official. The main account, according to a second senior administration official, is located in Qatar.
Qatar? Where have I heard that name?
Oh yeah...something about a Boeing 747-8 luxury jetliner as a gift from the Qatari government. But I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

Wonder who bought that oil, and at what price/bbl?

What do you want to bet that we're going to be hearing about a committee opening up over allegations of massive money skimming and outright theft from these accounts?

The thing that I find intriguing about Trump's move on Venezuela is that it occurred the day after the Chinese literally banned silver exports to the West. 1 January Chinese cut off silver exports, 2 Jan Trump moves on Venezuela to cock block the Chinese/Venezuela oil trade, cuts off Russian shadow oil fleet of tankers to and from Venezuela. Tit for tat! The Rich fighting and arguing amongst themselves. But remember it's about drug cartels in Venezuela LOL

At $9 off Brent, that'd be about $55/bbl. Will those prices justify a decision to spend many many billions of dollars on rejuvenating the Venezuela oil industry...during a period of increasing oil inventories?

Valero bought a cargo of Venezuelan crude oil, two sources said on Wednesday, the first deal by a U.S. Gulf Coast refiner struck as part of Washington's deal with Caracas to buy up to 50 million barrels of the South American country's crude.
Valero bought the crude from trading house Vitol, one of the two sources said. The crude was traded for delivery to the U.S. Gulf Coast at a discount of about $8.50 to $9.50 to Brent crude, two sources said.
