Is this a framework for a concept for a plan for negotiations for a deal?
The meaning of FRAMEWORK is a basic conceptional structure (as of ideas).
We have the concept of a deal.

... President Trump is KNOWN for DEALS.
He wrote a book about deals - caled "The Art of the Deal"...
It was a BEST-SELLER! ...
... So, no wonder there's framework for a Greenland deal.

A deal to provide security in the artic region. Sounds like what the US was already doing with NATO. So nothing.

Yes. He is known for deals.
This one, from his mouth: Sale me Greenland OR I WILL TAKE IT BY FORCE.
So NaCl-y, how much did we pay for Greenland?
Or, are we now gonna turn selective service into a full blown draft for the war we are in with them?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Let me update....a framework for a concept for a plan for negotiation for a future deal.

IIRC, that book is another example of specious Trump claims, as it was actually ghostwritten by Tony Schwartz (who admitted regret over it). Would it be valid to look more at Trump's entire body of work in the private sector?

1951 treaty...can accomplish everything Trump claims the US needs in Greenland.
Maybe Rutte actually realizes that.

In light of recent developments I will be ordering a Greenland cake and inviting members of the press to come cut it with me to have a slice in celebration.

Trump remained cryptic about the Greenland agreement, which he called “ pretty much a concept of a deal” that “h as to do with the security… and other things.”

At least someone is happy about Trump's Greenland etc. adventures. And could see the play better than most
From last March, Russia's The Evening With Vladimir Solovyov
Quote:
“I will watch Trump going to war with Europe—it will give me great pleasure. Here is how it will go: the annexation of Greenland, the disintegration of NATO, the destruction of the European Union that Trump will no longer recognize, and the economic war between America and Europe.”
“Trump will say, ‘I have nothing against Russia. The liberal democratic bastards have maligned Russia the same way they’ve maligned me... Russia says that it wants to return the lands that were taken by the Ukro-Nazis, and I’m saying the same thing. I need Greenland, because it suits our national interests. What’s the problem? The inviolability of borders? Are you joking?’”
|
And most recently
Quote:
“I told you there’s never been any presidents like this in America. No one in the history of America ever pulled off anything like this, none of the other American presidents. U.S. allies of 50 years were told, ‘Know your place, mice.’” He added, “It was openly asserted, ‘Russia is not the enemy.’
The last time Americans said that Russia is not their enemy was in the 19th century... Now they say the EU and international corporations are their enemies... Everything is coming apart at the seams!”

Old wine in a new bottle?
Politico makes some good points...
https://www.politico.com/news/2026/0...-deal-00742482
Quote:
The negotiations over Greenland’s future center around building up a larger NATO presence, thwarting adversaries and giving the United States sovereign claim to bits of the island — a deal remarkably similar to an agreement that already exists.
a 1951 treaty that permits some of what the new deal would likely include. That defense agreement allows the Pentagon to establish bases and send as many troops as it needs to the island after Copenhagen approves — which it has almost always done.
The U.S. military based more than 10,000 troops in Greenland at the height of the Cold War.
Yet the legal standing of U.S. troops at Pittufik Space Base on the island’s northwest coast is already well-established under another treaty, NATO’s 1955 status of forces agreement. That pact allows American forces to pass in and out of Greenland freely, even if it doesn’t legally make the land U.S. soil.
|
Seems the only real difference so far is a lot of damage to EU/NATO relationships....and the view of the US as a reliable ally.

Completely agree with Greenland being geopolitically important.
So an increased military presence makes sense.
But this obsession with minerals????
Need to add a little realism here.

It took Lumina 11 years, for example, to get from exploration to production. Exploration started in 2008 and reached final production in 2019, Bent said.
Still, the mine has yet to turn a profit, Kiernan told Andersen during a follow-up call on Friday.

Can Budman or some maggie out there give us the salient points to the beautiful deal that only came about because the orange fat man threw a tantrum that no on listened to?
Tell us how the terms of infinite time contract that he achieved.
*I* would figure that he would not agree to any deal that is ad infinitum unless it was talking about all $$$$ going to him and him doing nothing.
PLEASE tell us the fine points to this deal.

Trump Shares Contours of Potential Greenland Deal
'contours'....lol
Quote:
“It’s forever.”
“You know, you hear about 99 years and 50 years, it’s forever. That was discussed. We can do anything we want. We can do military. We can do anything we want, and it’s being negotiated, and let’s see what happens.”
"There’s no price, there’s no purchase price.”
“We have a lot of great things in the deal, and don’t forget, they’re also good for Europe, because, you know, when we’re good, they’re good, and if we’re not good, that’s not very good for them because we hold it all together.”
“We’re holding it all together.”
“We’re all going to work together. And actually, NATO is going to be involved with us. We’re going to be doing in conjunction, parts of it, in conjunction with NATO, which is really the way it should be.”
“We won’t have any expense because we’re not going to have expense other than building the Golden Dome. We’re going to build the Golden Dome, and we’ll have participation in that also.”

How illuminating...
