President Trump on Tuesday warned that he would withdraw U.S. support for Iraq if the parliament reinstates Nori al-Maliki as prime minister.

In a post on the president’s social media site, TruthSocial, Trump said Iraq “might make a very bad choice” by reinstalling Maliki, who served as prime minister between 2006 and 2014. He stepped down as the rise of the Islamic State threatened the country.

“Because of his insane policies and ideologies, if elected, the United States of America will no longer help Iraq and, if we are not there to help, Iraq has ZERO chance of Success, Prosperity, or Freedom.”

Maliki’s eight years in power are characterized as a period of nepotism, corruption and incompetence

Odd, you'd think Trump could relate to that....

Though they don't like each other very much, could this push Iraq a little closer to Iran.

Just comparing my own levels of happyness with the scenarios posted I the title of the OP:

I am cautiously optimistic about the actions of President Trump in these areas of geopolitics.

In the past, I was deeply unhappy with the action and behaviors of the presidents we had just before and between Trump's two presidencies.


I may not be confident in any specific action, but that the US is now vigorously pursuing a pro-active foreign policy is something I am happy about.
