I'll consider it if you acknowledge why 27% is important

These Indiana farmers are tired of all the "winning" thanks to Tariffman's tariff plans

There's a 98% chance those farmers in Indiana voted for him, so let them keep "winning". Sympathy can be found in the dictionary between 'shit' and 'syphilis'.

the US agriculture industry has been propped up by Gov subsidies for decades in large part due to .... unfair foreign import tariffs. .. Yes?

so Trump wants to reset the trade imbalance so these farmers can stand on their own two feet. .. Yes?

or they can go under by the rules of Capitalism .. Yes?

So you don't know the relevance of the 27%

27% of what? your article makes no mention of percentages affecting those disgruntled Indiana farmers. is 27% what they've been getting all these years by the Gov to prop them up? 25% tariff threat to South Korea? that affects Indiana farmers how exactly?

if you keep talking in circles you never reach the finish line.

Are u just figuring out his MO? He doesn't want to advance any convo toward a finish line. He only knows how to duck & deflect and pretend he's "winning".

There's no finish line to this convo, gents. Even after the Supremes share their ruling.

It's not a debate with a time limit. Elements may become more concrete. Other remain quite fluid. We see markets adjust their reactions due to the TACO effect. And it remains poor policy.

Thank you for your attention to this matter

For you, Lusty. Related to the tariff impact on the trade deficit.

You’re breaking your 2 week rule!!!!!!!!! But then again, it only took 24hrs to thoroughly debunk this thread. As usual.

Was never MY rule. It's Tariffman's.

Check your dates again, btw. You're missing a whole month depending which market you're looking at just for to get back to break-even with some sectors taking far, far longer and real, negative economic impacts persisting in tourism, agriculture, manufacturing, and much, much more.

Thank you for trying, though. It's clear you don't have command of the facts.

A more detailed reason why the farmers are subsidized.

Tariffs are NOT the large part or reason...fyi

However, generally speaking, U.S. commodity producers might be subsidized for several potential reasons:

Food Security: Subsidies can help ensure a stable domestic food supply, reducing reliance on other countries for essential goods.

Stabilizing Income: Farming can be risky due to weather and market fluctuations. Subsidies help stabilize producer incomes and prevent widespread financial hardship in rural communities.

Global Competition: Many other countries subsidize their own producers, so U.S. subsidies can help American producers compete in the global market.

Environmental Goals: Some subsidies are tied to conservation efforts or specific farming practices that benefit the environment.

The majority of reasons that government subsidizes farming has to do with food security, and weather adversities.

which contradicts HDG's "tariffs killing Indiana farmers" post since what you googled on it didn't mention tariffs. i got the same thing.

so if tariffs don't affect farmers because of subsidies what's the uproar about?

and there is that fact that several crops, subsidized by the Government, are intended to be export crops which are subject to import tariffs by other nations, most notably China. so tariffs are a factor in US farm subsidies for some important crops like soybeans. we export more than the US market has demand for.

China is the largest buyer of U.S. soybeans by a wide margin
, often purchasing over half of all U.S. exports. Between 2020 and 2024, China purchased an average of 29 million metric tons annually. Despite increasing competition from Brazilian imports, China continued to book massive amounts of U.S. soy in 2025, with sales approaching 10 million tons by early 2026.
Key details regarding U.S. soybean exports:

  • Top Buyer: China frequently imports 60% or more of total U.S. soybean exports, far exceeding other nations.
  • Other Major Buyers: Following China, other significant importers include Mexico, the European Union, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan.
  • 2025-2026 Trend: China continued to be the top buyer in late 2025 and early 2026, with Sinograin and other buyers purchasing millions of tons to meet trade agreements.

tariffs are a factor in US farm subsidies. fair trade with major importers like China would reduce that need to subsidize farming which first started during the Great Depression. one of the few things FDR got right.

If you only read the AI summary you miss the important details

https://www.agtechnavigator.com/Arti...-preparations/

But that's been par for the course, Waco. That $12 billion tariff revenue bailout didn't solve the tariff created cash flow problems for quite a few farmers. Too little, too late.

so is an AI summary wrong? mine? eyecu2's? it's fine for quick facts. now go back to post WWII and follow the unfair tariff breadcrumbs and understand why we are where we are now. unless of course you'd prefer the US to continue to allow unfair trade tariffs by other nations to hinder long term US business growth both at home and in international business.

that trail of breadcrumbs is far longer than you seem to think and Trump isn't the first president to attempt to reset trade. criticize Trump's "Bull in a China shop" approach all you want but know that 60 years of ineffective presidents both Republican and Democrat to address this makes weak half-measures useless.
