This Save America Act law shouldn't even be required nor discussed!

Aren't those two statements rather contradictory?
A vote against the SAVE act would mean the voter doesn't think the SAVE act is required.

Quote:
"What better way to eliminate that distrust than to make sure that whoever votes in an American citizen who is truly eligible to vote?"
"Every single Democrat who voted no today proved they would rather let illegal aliens tip the scales in our national elections than protect your vote."

But the SAVE act does not meet that first quote. It has no requirement for existing registered voters to proved their citizenship. A photo ID does not prove citizenship.
So all those illegal aliens that the second quote refers to can still vote.
To accomplish its stated goals, the SAVE Act needs to go further with the requirement that every registered voter in the US must 're-register' and provide proof of citizenship (including every elected official).
