Trump tried to use tariffs in a completely different random over reaching way than Nixon. The Supreme Court recognized that non of these could qualify as being needed under an emergency.

And they were correct.

'I can destroy the country': Trump's rant after Supreme Court strikes down his key policy

"It is my opinion that the Court has been swayed by Foreign Interests, and a Political Movement that is far smaller than people would think — But obnoxious, ignorant, and loud!"
Two of the justices who voted against the president - Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett - were appointed by him.
In a press conference, he spoke of his claimed powers as president.
"I can destroy the trade. I can destroy the country," Trump said.
"I'm allowed to impose a foreign destroying embargo, I can embargo, I can do anything I want, but I can't charge $1."
In a bizarre explanation, Trump said he "was very modest in my ask of other countries".
"I didn't want to do anything that would affect the decision of the court," he said.
"I wanted to be a good boy."
The administration is now left with the major headache of how to refund the $184 billion in tariffs it has already collected.
And all the maggies look at him and say, "this is our guy!" lol

This guy will never learn that fucking the American people over with taxes thinly disguised as supposed trade deficit bullshit will not work.

People are wising up to this scam. I wonder when the cowards in the GOP will take their Constitutional authority back from the insane freak in the White House……and stop shaking in their booties.

Trump hikes global tariff to 15 percent after ‘ridiculous’ Supreme Court ruling

https://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...supreme-court/

He is using legislation Congress wrote for good reasons, but with rules. Trump is violating those rules right from the get go.

What are sections 122 and 301, Trump’s potential alternate tariff tools?

When I read this, I immediately thought of the most recent example of it....

This is reaching a critical juncture. The blind fealty is becoming increasingly untolerated. MAGA is their own worst enemy at this point.

But anyone hoping this spells the end of the administration’s tariff spree should think twice. Even without IEEPA, the president retains ample statutory authority to quickly recreate much of the current trade policy chaos."

Yes, that's a big concern.

Trump, being the big spoiled brat that he is, says, "Well, I'll show you.." Levies, 1st, 10% tariffs, then, for no reason at all, jacks his tariffs up to 15%. More chaos, while the Republican Congress continues to abdicate its Constitutional responsibilities..

sure was nice when we had an adult running the country instead of a pouty 4 year old..

his tariffs are good for 150 days. should be interesting to see what happens after that.

It's super nice that he's doing all he can to make sure the GOP lose their asses in about 9 months.

Why does Trump say the foreign countries are paying the tariffs ?

The goods show up at our border. Then the importer has to pay the tariff to allow them into the country. Many times the cost of the tariff will be passed on to the American consumer.

Why don't the news organizations press him on this incorrect answer he gives ?

^^^ He says that foreign countries are paying the tariffs so idiots will believe it is just revenue and it has no cost passed on to the American people because the companies exporting their goods to us are paying for it. It is all bullshit and sadly, a lot of his retards actually believe this lie.

Why press him on it? He is just going to lie and stick with his bullshit narrative. Hell, Trump still has his sheep believing him about Georgia because he refuses to admit defeat. He certainly won't admit defeat with his archaic obsession with tariffs... even Harris did not make nearly as big of a deal about the absurdity of his tariffs as I thought she should have. She seemed more concerned about just bad mouthing him and telling everyone what they already knew about him.
