Miss you over in the USA hockey thread. I’m sure you were cheering passionately for the US.
The answer is Canada imposes high tariffs on U.S. dairy imports beyond limited quotas to protect its domestic dairy. The system prioritizes Canadian farm stability and rural economies over fully open trade.
My overarching argument is all the TDS folks don’t care if tariffs are good or bad for the US. You just know it came from Trump so you don’t like it.

I mean, that's cute and all but really quite irrelevant. An illegally implemented tariff is a disservice to all of us and it's the exact kind of bad faith negotiating that erodes faith in the U.S.
I do love the energy, though.
Hopefully CBP updates their system quickly. The amount of revenue that may need to be refunded continues to grow.

I mean, that's great except for this... that it seems you missed... where they released new data showing the highest deficit in goods on record.
Quite sad, especially when you pair it with those massive revisions and the net loss in manufacturing jobs

PRESIDENT TRUMP JUST WENT FULL BEAST MODE on Truth Social:
Supreme Court accidentally handed him a MASSIVE POWER-UP with their ruling, now he can unleash LICENSES (aka tariffs on steroids) on countries ripping us off for decades, with even MORE legal muscle and zero respect for the “incompetent” justices who botched it!
He’s calling out the Court for potentially siding with China on birthright citizenship next, while vowing: “I have a job to do. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump turning a “ridiculous” ruling into America First rocket fuel. The man never stops fighting!

No, Bam. They affirmed that he didn't actually have a power he tried to illegally claim. Sharing stuff like this proves you were never actually paying attention.
He still has all the other powers he already had. He just needs to use them and follow the law when doing so.
He was handed a defeat for an overreach. The rest of the bluster is adorable. If he wants to use tariffs he has to do it within the actual authority he has.

So, Bam. What happened to the market today?
Trump had an out and decided to double down. The market is sending the same message that his pisspoor approval ratings are.
The GOP had a gift handed to then, and he threw it away with another tantrum

Naughty naughty. Tell the whole story and not just your TDS slant.
A significant contribution to today is persistent fears of AI disruption. Or is software facing the wrath of the evil tariff?
There are ongoing worries about artificial intelligence rapidly transforming (and potentially displacing) industries hit several sectors hard, especially software and tech-related stocks. Companies like CrowdStrike (down nearly 10%), Microsoft, ServiceNow, Palantir, and others saw notable declines amid concerns that AI tools could erode demand for traditional software/services.

EU trade deal and India negotiations are now both in jeopardy after last week's ruling and Trump's 15% tantrum

Dow closes down more than 800 points as AI and tariff risks rattle investors
By Mary Cunningham
Updated on: February 23, 2026 / 5:05 PM EST / CBS News <= after market close
"Stocks slumped on Monday as jittery investors digested President Trump's plan to raise global tariffs to 15% and amid renewed concerns about the impact of artificial intelligence apps on the technology industry."
"The Dow Jones slid 822 points, or 1.7%, to close at 48,804, while the S&P 500 fell 72 points, or 1%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.1%."
fearing the worst TWK rushed to the interwebs and checked two of my investment accounts (wealth account, IRA) and was shocked! SHOCKED to find i'm UP 22k since last week.
the market is already closed for the day. i checked and i'm up 22k.

That’s why tariffs are taxes on American consumers.

Say it again... louder, for the dumbass MAGAs in the back. A tariff is a tax, and a tax is a tariff. It's fucking Econ 101. WE pay trump's tariffs. Period.
