Prime Minister Takaichi of Japan has selected the United States as Japan's primary supplier of oil and energy.

Who cares about Tariffs

Topic is tariffs, not whataboutism and oil.

It's cute you think that, but I've posted many, many indisputable facts over the 3½ years I've been here. Been correct on more than a few predictions, too.

The cost of tariffs on automakers isn't insignificant... but the lack of solid, consistent, predictable long-term policy undermined the potential for meaningful long-term change to drive domestic production.

Sadly one of the largest producers of automobiles volkswagen, has decided to move their battery manufacturing plant outside of the US instead of locating it domestically. Just another failure in this administration's ability to participate in the EV culture, and alternatives to big oil companies hold on the American pocketbook. VW likely just waiting until Trump is out of office and then it will decide where to put it.

How one doofus can fuck up an entire industry is amazing- congratulations on your world-class cuck up 47. All due to tariffs and import surcharges.

Jay Allen is a fan of President Donald Trump, and voted for him on the belief that the Republican would cut taxes and trim regulations, helping his manufacturing business in northeast Arkansas.

But the tariffs at the core of Trump’s economic agenda have wreaked havoc on his company, Allen Engineering Corp., which makes industrial equipment used to install, finish and pave concrete. The import taxes have raised the costs of engines, steel, gearboxes and clutches made abroad that Allen needs to build power trowels that can sell for up to $100,000 each.

Allen’s experience embodies a growing body of evidence that the tariffs that Trump said would help American factories are, in fact, squashing many of them. The problem could get worse as the administration scrambles to craft new tariffs to replace the emergency import taxes that the Supreme Court ruled illegal in February.

Allen said he ran his company at a loss in 2025 because of tariffs. His payroll has fallen to 140 workers from a peak of 205. To get by this year, he has hiked prices by 8% to 10%, even though that might mean fewer sales.

“What’s really sad is the unintended consequences of his tariffs are hurting manufacturing in our country,” said Allen. “Unfortunately, the working-class people are getting squeezed.”

Another drop in a very large bucket of folks who show that Tariffman's tariff tantrums aren't working for us

That’s because we live in a global economy. Plenty of businesses in the US rely upon components built elsewhere that are put into production here in America.

But try telling that to someone who thinks that foreign companies pay for our tariffs.

That's pretty much the alpha and omega of it.

1) trump either lies about, or straight up doesn't know, how tariffs work

2) his dipshit voters believe him always and fact-check him never

3) real Americans everywhere suffer because of these ignorant fuckwads

This is true for tariffs, but it's also true for dozens of other issues. trump lies, MAGA believes him, the country suffers. Rinse and repeat.

Whatever Trump’s master plan is, it revolves around global trade.

He is securing global maritime shipping routes, especially strategic choke points.

Panama Canal, Strait of Hormuz, Arctic shipping routes (Greenland/Canada).

Combine that with tariffs.

It’s all about trade.

Yeah. Sure he is

Dude does nothing but malign and belittle other countries, and you think he's the master trade maker. HAA HAA HAA.

What a joke. PLUS his tariffs are deemed illegal, and that whole mess is still up in the air- claiming 15%, then 20, then didnt follow through with the last threat- and why???

Cause he was busy being upset with Bibi-and planning on bombing Iran- ruining the economy of all Americans and across the world. I remember Bondi screaming about a 50k Dow, and a guy on here about 5100 dollar gold..well that's now at 4600. Bitcoin and others in the shitter. Good ol Donnie- w- the midas touch, (if King Midas was a shit creator vs. a Gold creator) cause everything Trump touches turns to shit eventually.

Tariffs are a fools errand here- and Dirty Donnie the Felon is going to find out. Meanwhile, November cannot get here fast enough.

trump has no master plan. He's completely addled and senile. He just blurts out whatever pops into his big dumb head at any given moment.

His tariffs are illegal, by the way, and we've been paying for them the entire time. Just another grift from the shady, convicted felon.

He had no Plan B or exit strategy for Iran. Gas is up a full dollar from a month ago, and it won't be coming back down again any time soon.

MAGA thinking he's a genius is how we got here. He's actually a moron who bankrupted casinos.
