The Island of Abu Musa has a strategic location and although occupied by Iran, has always been claimed by the UAE, specifically the Emirate of Sharjah. Iranian forces sized the island and a couple others in 1971. Note that the British forces simply stood by while the Iranians forcefully occupied and executed the local police force.

Thoughts of the Munich agreement in 1938 come to mind about the Brits not doing anything.

I assume you’re talking about the guy who made the deal that Trump shit on, allowing Iran to continue its nukes program.

Did Obama provide any reasoning for not wanting Iran to have nukes, or did he just make a peace plan, like Trump has done?

These oil rich countries have all the money they need to do whatever they want. Giving them 32billion in adjusted cost of living money is a drop in their bucket. All we tried to do is keep them from weaponizing nuclear materials.

The JCPOA agreement Obama signed with Iran and six other countries was doing just that. The agreement had a limit on how much enriched Uranium Iran could have. The agreement was working just fine until Trump took the USA out of the deal in May 2018 during his first term as president.

Here's the rub - when we sang that ditty back in the 60s it was tongue-in-cheek. Today when they sing it in the streets of Tehran, they mean it!

Martyrs R Us!
No, dude. It wasn't tongue in cheek at all. It might have seemed that way, given the light, mocking tone of the tune and the overall giddy mood.

But it was the darkest form of satire.

Look up Joe's personal history. You won't like it. But you will see that he HATED that fucking war and the people driving it. I did too.

And I fucking hate this one.

Christ...like you ain't.

Or me. Or anyone else in this godforsaken POS thread.

I've been busy with RL for a few days, took my eye offa this thread.

Then I come back and find it... nauseating. None of y'all know shit. Seriously. Not a goddam thing.

The inanities being said here...about Karg Island...about war crimes...are only matched by the absolute LACK of fucking empathy for the impacts of all of this on the citizenry.

But they deserve it, right? Just like the 10's of thousands killed in Gaza.

And then, of course, we have the incredible RISKS of this escalating beyond all control...

We learn nothing. Neither as a country nor as a global society.

Nothing.

That's exactly what all the war crime stuff is about. Hit the power plants, hopefully not the nuclear one, and it not only cuts off power, it also cuts off the water supply to 90% of the people. They have desalination plants all over taking water from the sea and making it drinkable. This requires power. The civilians of Iran, around 30 million, won't last long without water. On top of all this, if desalination plants or power is attacked, Iran said they will target other gulf countries water and power supply. Talk about escalation, cut off basic needs and shit is gonna hit the fan.

1. Destroying Iran's missile capabilities.

2. Knocking off Iran's navy.

3. Ensuring Iran can never obtain a nuclear weapon.

4. Ensuring the Iranian regime cannot arm, fund and direct terrorist armies outside their borders.

Trump's 4 objectives in Iran explained https://share.google/ptBAYtlMeVM9IUKOk
So, how's donny little go at playing toy soldier with the lives of everyone over there going?

And with the billions already spent (~12B first week and definitely 1B every day after), how is the return on investment with the given objectives? Let's see

1. Iran steadfastly holding on to the missle capabilities and has shown that they still are using them.

FAIL.

2. Hear they still have putt putts on the water that are still causing an annoyance (sp). And why should we treat their Navy like that when they were nice enough to help our sailors when they needed it?

FAIL.

3. That should be off the table since donny&co declared they annihilated that capability months ago.

FAIL.

4. Seeing that regime is still using arms, having attacks outside of the area directly hot....wait for it....

FAIL

So, how is our return on investment going?

Do *YOU* think that the expenditure reached the above objectives?

If so, than why are we still hitting things?
If not, how much more $$$$ is needed to settle things?

*I* will say that from the above objectives, the last is the thorniest. And I agree with accomplishing it. But not in a Pyric (sp) style that really isn't a victory.

As others have stated, at least Obama kept things from being hot. And *I* think he would have helped an uprising by the people there...the only sure way to ensure a regime change that could possibly be helpful to the world by showing terroristic tactics are long term goal guarantees of objectives.

ok, i admit i'm exaggerating a bit, but Iran has us in a bit of a pickle. i would argue that we have no desirable options right now, only bad or worse.

if i was the commander, i would do the following:
1. take Kharg Island with the Tripoli
2. take the other islands with the Boxer
3. land on both sides of the Strait and secure that territory
4. keep bombing the shit on anywhere Iran is using to launch attacks
5. bring more Warthogs to the front
6. bring another carrier strike group
7. bring more destroyers and cruisers
8. start escorting oil tankers through the Strait

all of this is a shitty option but it's the least shitty option we have, imo, for a war that absolutely never should have been launched. it is what it is, though.
It seems that with the objectives donny is failing at getting, he is grasping at straws to:

1. Open the Strait
2. Open the Strait
3. Open the Strait
4. Open the Strait

Well, maybe if the Brits had Persia, things would have been different.

Actually the International Atomic Energy Agency was looking. That was the entire point behind the JCPOA.
