No, it was because of Obama and his utter desperation to do something (anything) resembling a foreign policy. He allowed Iran to get as far as they did. And now Trump has to clean up another Democrat mess.

Hey man, it's adav8's job to defend Obama's misbegotten 2016 JCPOA, not yours. Please stay in your lane.

I don't even bother to correct adav8 anymore over details such as number of centrifuges, uranium enrichment percentages, laughable IAEA inspection rules, etc.

I'll just say here that the JCPOA imposed ZERO restraints on Iranian missile production or its support of terrorist proxies in Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, Yemen, etc. Both problems escalated greatly as soon as the ink was dry on Obama's foreign policy "achievement".

And let's not forget how Obama's JCPOA wound up unfreezing over $100 billion in assets, a huge pile of cash which the mullahs immediately put to use for nefarious purposes throughout the Middle East. You can even make the case that Obama's JCPOA helped to finance Hamas' horrific Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel, where 1200 Jewish citizens were butchered.

Elsewhere in this thread, royamcr tried to justify the obscene transfer of pallets of cash to Tehran by saying it was their money. I don't give a fuck who the money originally belonged to, if anyone was naive enough to think our releasing it would curb the mullahs' bad behavior, they had to be dumber than a bag of rocks. History has proven just how dumb Obama, John Kerry and Ben Rhodes were.

Uh-huh. You do know that between $300 billion and $350 billion in Russian Central Bank assets have been frozen by Western institutions since Putin's Feb. 2022 invasion of Ukraine?

In addition, interest generated on those immobilized assets is being transferred to Ukraine.

Are you cool with that, royamcr? Or should we release all that money to Putin (it's their money, right?) if he promises to start behaving himself?

"President Trump on Wednesday made the case for going to war with Iran that he should have made at the outset, but it was still essential for Americans to hear it. The most important message we heard is that he’s not ending the war until the job is done, and Iran’s leaders would be wise to act accordingly.

The strongest argument for bombing Iran is to deny the radical regime a nuclear weapon, and Mr. Trump made the case with vigor. You can nitpick that he exaggerated the immediacy of when Iran would have a bomb or have missiles capable of hitting America. But only a naif would believe the ayatollahs weren’t set on both. Someone had to stop them, and Mr. Trump acted when other Presidents and world leaders would not."

So now you resort to conflation. Very sad smart MAGA.

The point was that Trump put Iran in the position to enrich Uranian by pulling out of the deal. The enriched uranium Iran has today is Trump’s doing.

The point was the ayatollahs were set on both (missile program and nukes) regardless of the JCPOA. It mainly lifted the sanctions and turned the revenue spigot back on to finance their rogue terrorist schemes. Pulling out of the JCPOA in 2018 let us resume a "maximum pressure" campaign and stop turning a blind eye whenever they misbehaved.

How many times do you have to be lied to/cheated on before you conclude you can't make a deal with congenital liars & cheaters and you refuse to be played anymore?

and that "maximum pressure" campaign got us what exactly? oh ya, that's right-60% enriched uranium-just a hop skip and a jump from weapons-grade 90% enriched uranium..

and that's exactly one of Trump's justifications for this silly war.

the Obama deal was a win win for both parties. Trump pulled out not because it was a bad deal but b/c he's jealous af of Obama, a black man who is also the smartest guy in the room..

Iran under Obama: 3.67% enrichment..

Iran under Trump: 60% enrichment..

the facts speak for themselves.
