Should Swalwell resign from everything, like Congress and the Governor's race in Kommifornia? Whatever happened to due process and your day in court? I mean, shoot-howdy, he's already said he diddn-do-nuttn and besides, he already said he was sorry and even fessed up to wifey. You gonna believe your lying eyes over a jury of his peers?!?

This isn’t just about Swalwell anymore. Texas Republican Representative Tony Gonzales has been caught up in the ensuing debate over Congressional Ethics as well and is also retiring before he’s thrown out. Who else is going to be caught up in the ensuing chaos?

Embattled Rep Tony Gonzales announces plans to resign amid sexual misconduct allegations
The scandal-plagued lawmaker admitted to an affair with a staffer who later died by suicide
Published April 13, 2026 6:54pm EDT | Updated April 13, 2026 8:15pm EDT
Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, abruptly announced his decision to resign from Congress Monday evening amid calls for him to step aside after admitting to sexual misconduct with a staffer earlier this year.
The embattled lawmaker is facing an anticipated expulsion vote that could occur as early as this week.
"There is a season for everything and God has a plan for us all. When Congress returns tomorrow, I will file my retirement from office," Gonzales wrote on social media. "It has been my privilege to serve the great people of Texas."
It is currently unclear when Gonzales will formally resign. A spokesperson for Gonzales did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

i can think of another politician who was determined to have committed rape plus had numerous allegations of sexual battery, sexual assault and sexual harassment against him who should also step down..
there are literally dozens of plausible and well-founded complaints against him, and he once bragged about committing sexual battery..
why the double standard?

With Swallwell out of the race, will the next Govern or of California be a Republican?
How will his resignation form Congress affect the balance of power there?

Classic finger prints of a Nancy Pelosi schmeer
While I'm sure they (she) has a plan, it's gonna get slicey-dicey in a hurry. Swallowswell was the leading Dem fave, in spite of not actually being a resident of the state. However, the two leaders ATM are Republicans, with the remaining Dems likely to lose in the jungle primary, with the perennially unmarried (and for good reasons), Katie Porter as next leading Dem.
So what are the options? They could stuff Newscum in the Congress seat, hoping to gain more exposure and experience, ya know - rubbing elbows and legs and such, until 2028. Upshot is; that would leave his replacement as the one holding the bag of foibles and crappola in Kommifornia.
Sidebar: I have a side bet with a friend on which state will go bankrupt first. They got Kommifornia and I'm all-in on Illinois.
That would leave Ms Porter as the top dog, so that's not gonna fly. The two Republicans would easily chew her up. Well... actually, Ms Porter has a way of doing that to herself.
So they might need to keep the old Newscum and plop her in the Congress seat to keep her on ice for a bit. But that still doesn't solve the puzzle completely. Might have to get some Dem candidates to drop out, for family reason or some such, to focus on a single Dem, as a way to at least eek-by the primary.

My perception: Lotta this behavior going on on the left . . . .
Pence was ridiculed by the leftist media for being circumspect with women so as to avoid even the3 appearance of impropriety.
This stuff goes back to President Kennedy (and all the Kennedys) and continues through the Clintons and on with Anthony Weiner, Cuomo, All Frankin . . . .I just can't list 'em all this early in the morning.
Additionally, it seems to me that there is a tacit tolerance for this on the part of progressives as long as it is on the download and they need the seat. As soon as the misogyny threatens to loos them an office, they turnoff the bad actor. It is all OK with them until . . . .

Next batter up at the Kommifornia plate...
As they whittle away at the chaff, the next Dem batter is Tom Steyer. - He is a billionaire, so will likely have to move out of state whether he is governor or not.
- He is big on the climate change bandwagon, after having secured his billions from fossil fuels trading and banking. Still has an interst in a coal mine.
- Big Dem donor (many years), so they owe him a little sump'n-sump'n (wink-wink, nudge-nudge, know what I mean?).

Right!! The Left is totally into this. TOTALLY.
Oh...wait...it's your..."perception"...
And alla this time I was thinking it was just more MAGA gaslighting....
Swalwell is just another in a long string of misogynist abusers who thinks he can get away with anything cuz he's powerful and "special" It has zero to do with party affiliation or anything else. It is just assholes who mistreat women. Some are Dems. Some are priests.
Trump.
Matt Gaetz
Cory Mills.
Now Swalwell.
