It celebrates a past Mexican Army beating a past French Army.

Everyone has beaten the French Army at one time or another since it was founded in 1445.

You don't see Germans, British, Vietnamese, Spaniards holding yearly celebration of their beating of the French Army.


British in 1415. Germans in 1870 and 1940, Vietnamese in 1954. Spaniards in 1805.

The French Army usually surrenders before a shot is fired at them or an arrow is shot across their bow as a warning shot.


I also doubt most Mexicans that celebrates Cinco de Mayo on May 5th even know what Cinco de Mayo is ORIGINALLY about 164 years ago.


They just look at it as another reason to drink some Corona Cerveza.

Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexican culture and heritage similar to St. Patricks Day celebrates Irish heritage.
How are Seattle and Haiti similar? Haiti is not Mexican or American.
