Do you know if you have to make reservations there?

I have been pondering the question in this thread and I think there are aspects of this which have not been adequately addressed.

1 What is the mood you're trying to create?
2 What is the level of pursuit?

Now there are many more I can add but these are the two I would focus on as the rest will fall into place. Now having said that, and considering the time of year we are in, I would also endeavor to take advantage of the tremendous weather we are having and explore outdoor dining.

La Hacienda on Redland Rd. it quite lovely outdoors and reasonably priced. The margaritas are nice and their patio is one of the best around in my humble opinion. However, if you really want to take it up a few notches I would suggest The Vinyards out on on 3009. Fantastic board of fare presented by their chef with one of the best wine cellars around! You can have a lovely table outside amongst a working vineyard and enjoy the hill country night air even in the height of summer.

Very good questions Rakhir, and I probably should have stated this in the original start of this thread. The mood is probably borderline between casual and classy. Nothing too upscale but no chain restaurants either. I am wanting to take her to a San Antonio original place since she is not from here. There have been some great suggestions that this is becoming a hard decision than I had thought it would be lol, but it just gets me more and more excited about it happening soon!

NO to Caparelli's. OK at best and will not be viewed as a positive for someone from out of town.

Don't forget the Tower of the Americas! I haven't tried the latest restaurant but the view is pretty amazing. Insist on a sunset hour table.

Funky without seeming to try too hard to please or spend top dollar:

Liberty Bar [see update below]

If you want Italian don't forget Paesano's Lincoln Heights:

Wow. The old Liberty Bar is closed.
I haven't been to the new one but I guess it's time to go.

Hey Nikki, sorry for my delay been on vacation and was out of town this past weekend. Well the dinner part did not happen due to scheduling conflicts on both of our parts. For future reference I will probably not set up a Dinner Date on a day I have to work lol. I work too late. But I was leaning towards Crumpets or Paesonos. Good suggestions though and feel free to give more or just let this thread die. Also good ideas to take a girl for a date if I can ever find one to say "Yes" to a date with me lol

Awww, that's too bad Tribalneo. Oh well, there's always another day. I like trying new and unique places...like the one Molly suggested.

Molly's Suggestion....

The neat thing about this unique and historical place are the selections. Every once in a while you will be given a hand-written menu. That is because the chef has created something special for the evening after going shopping at the local market there in Castroville.

Hobbying dinner? I'd go with a couple Los Combination Plate # 3's and Big Red. Why waste money on food that can be better spent hobbying?

Crumpets??? The money you give to Francois - you could turn a single into a duo.
