Hello, I was wondering if anybody could provide advise on how to trace a license plate number. For the past year I have gone through hell dealing with a crazy stalker. I actually had to move to a new city, and change my legal name. I got a license plate number of the vehical used and I would really like to find out once and for all who is doing this. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!

Well contact the Police Dept in the Jurisdiction that the Stalking is taking place in give the police the License Plate number and a description of his vehicle and him if you have it any names of the guy alias or real and file a police complaint. There is no other way to do it. License plate numbers are not public record. So a formal police report must be filed and you have a right to a copy of the report. ok.

The only reason I do not want to do that is because I do not want this person to know my new legal name. This person found out my new provider name because when I tried to close my p411 account I was just told to change all my info. That did not work. I needed to close it down completely and start fresh. I thought after I retired my old handle it would be over with... I was wrong.

Audrina, publicdata.com will give you his info.... from there you will need rubber gloves and self sealing envelopes, and self sticking stamps.

PRINT (to not write) letters pointing out that "we are aware you are following a person and or stalking this person, if in the future we decide to take action we will." basically let them know in an anonymous way they are now KNOWN...

Point is that once you know who they are you can find out if they are married, where they live etc.. and if they are exposed most run

Ok so somehow you find out who this vehicle is registered to, so then what. Look don't take this sort of thing lightly. You really should have a formal complaint on file just in case something more severe happens. You really don't have to go into detail about what you do, or how you came into contact with this person. Just trying to help you out. Oh by the way one poster suggested you contact a Wrecker firm to run the plate. Thats against the law for them to do that, they can loose their license and get sued liably. So unless they knew you from childhood they probably won't do it.

I have filed several police reports on this loser. When this person cut my brake lines LE took it a little more serious but nothing has been done. Honestly, I just want to know who is doing this to me and my family. This person really gets off on the fact that I can't see him but he can see me. The last email sent said something along the lines off "We will see you soon, but you won't see us". I think or hope that if he or "they" know I know who they are it will stop. I'm just really tired of looking over my shoulder and always being paranoid. It is no way to live.

I understand your frustration. It really doesn't surprise me that Police have done a rather half ass job too, but since you have very little information tey really aren't gonna put much effort in it. So that said, lets be creative. Ok you stated this person has tampered with your brake lines. Thats not cool. Figure out a way to bait this person see if you can video somehow any activity around your car at night. Hide a camera outside near your car. I know this may sound a bit dramatic but you may catch something on film, it may take awhile but you'll have some info.

Lets say you move
You put in a change of address with the Post Office
Guess what! The Post Office will release your new address for one year!!
So what you do is that you get a Post Office box and the change of address goes there!
Now for an ID...
Go to one of those private mail boxes... the address looks like an apartment address...
But the clerk there could be easily bribed, coerced or what ever
Before you are allowed to have one of these you have to show real ID except you need to show ID where you used to live.
You just might be able to use a PO Box on your Drivers license if you show copies of Police Reports about some stalker
Got kids?
Well the creep might be able to gain your current address just by going to the school and conning the staff there with some story. Again show the staff the police reports to flag your kids file
When you move-change or mis-spell your name
Car registration needs to be changed too! to another address. Lets assume the creep has connections
Noisy people want to know where you are moving to... Create a address that ends up in the middle of a lake or perhaps this will work... your name, general delivery, town,State, Zip
