This will help you.

_Taxes and government-backed loans: The Internal Revenue Service would not process paper returns; it was unclear whether taxpayer help lines would be staffed. The filing deadline remains April 18. Tax audits would be suspended. The Federal Housing Administration would stop guaranteeing loans. Loans to small businesses would be suspended.

Since so many of you are thinking ideologically rather than critically, this will help you understand the ramifications of a shutdown.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/0..._n_845995.html |

The sad thing is that Obama can sign an executive order to pay the military, legislation exists to authorize it because of the last shutdown. It is calculated to use the troops as pawns, as heart strings. Shame on him.

Texan...unfortunately, our troops have been used as pawns for many wars...whether it be real war or politically. And, heartstrings run LONG & DEEP thank God...because those of us who have family and friends who serve...we know the difference!

Simply put, it would be political suicide to not pay the military during a Federal shut down.
Much to do about nothing. No politician in the United States would even think about doing this, if they are looking to get re-elected. And most of them want to.

It would affect me 100% because not only I'm not getting paid but I will possibly still have to go work for free so I hope and pray that they come to an agreement...I think we shouldn't even have to go through this in the first place

Obama you say? Sounds like one of those "it's all Obamas fault" claims.

The effects on the economy of a shutdown would be massive. It doesn't just affect government employees, but also contractors and support businesses and all the companies that support those companies.
The economy was just beginning to show some real signs of recovery. My 401k sure doesn't need to take another hit.

Not any different than any other politician, get a crowd together, put a camera in their face and they're campaigning.
