Boy, I feel like I haven't posted in years....

I take the NO/Creatine supplements pre-workout. For me I have longer more focused workouts when I take them. I don't care if its a placebo affect or not, I notice a difference when working out and because of that I see results in my physique.

I will say this, want to pick up hot overly intense chics...take a spin class

Most NO products do do exactly that (in terms of focus/energy). NO causes a blood build up in the brain as well which triggers the release of more neuro transmitters in the most basic aspect. Also they are usually loaded with stimulants!

They absolutely work for the purpose, just stating they do not increase hypetrophy.

Why take any supplements at all? Do you think it makes a noticeable difference to the result of your workout?

I use honey... from the bees... gives me a noticeable energy boost whether I'm heading for weights or a run.

Creatine and Beta Alanine both have scientific studies to back them up.

A ton of other supplements are over-hyped, over-priced, and under-dosed.

I tell people to stick with the basics...

a good Multi-Vitamin
Fish Oil
Whey Protein
and then maybe a Creatine Mono if they are weight training

I know what you're thinking ---"So ddf, what makes a good multi-vitamin?"

I'm glad you asked!

Some things to look for:

B12 as Methylcobalamin not Cyanocobalamin
vitamin E sources to be fully mixed, instead of just alpha
vitamin D as Cholecalciferol (D3) not Ergocalciferol (D2)
vitamin A --mixed carotenes (instead of just beta)
niacin as inositol hexanicotinate instead of niacinamide
minerals as chelates or citrates

You actually do get what you pay for -- I would never use Centrum, Wal-Mart, or discount vitamins. Cheap vitamins use cheap, inferior formulas.

The very best multi that I know of is Ortho-Core by AOR. (Only negative is the price)

some others that I think are in the top

Controlled Labs --- Orange Triad (especially if you need joint support)

Gaspari --- Anavite

MST --- MVP 365 / ZMK

Source Naturals --- Life Force Multiple

For a beginner no... Theres really no benefit to supplementation other than a basic multi as long as your needs are being met through your diet.

The more advanced you get the more intricate everything gets.

Right now I am right around 6,500-8,000 calories per day depending on whether or not its a high carb day. Simply put I cannot meet my dietary needs through my diet alone.

As you progress it becomes equal parts of diet, training, and supplementation and then diet, training, supplementation, and drugs. Don't have everything in perfect harmony and simply put nothing will happen with your body no matter how perfect the other aspects are.

Look into kynoselen. Synthetek carries it on ocassion.

Also have to disagree with you on the multi. Personally I just take a cc of Kyno 3x per week and then 4 centrums spread throughout the day.

I notice no difference in my blood panels when I use something like centrum vs. more expensive vitamins.

As long as you agree that you aren't getting the most bio-available form of each vitamin/mineral.. but I understand that you personally haven't noticed a difference. Which of these "expensive" multi's have you tried?

I'd be willing to bet that if you dropped the Centrum all together you'd still see no difference.

For me, I'd rather get the better ingredients. And it's not that much more $$

For instance...You can find Orange Triad for $25 ---and it's a 45 day supply! (about $17/mo)

It's actually a multi-vit, with digestion complex and joint support.

For someone like me who needs the joint support, I feel like it's a bargain.

Huge difference between not taking and taking...

Heres my weekly run down for off season haha

1,000mg Test Cyp
300mg Deca (joints)
1 amp aflutop per day (joints) 4 weeks on/4off
10IU GH post workout (also amazing for joints)
5IU humalog post workout
200mcg IGF DES 3 weeks on/ 3 weeks off pre workout
250mcg ACVR2-b 6 hours pre workout 4 weeks on/4 off
250mcg Follisatin 344 6 hours pre workout 4 weeks on/4off
Kynoselen 3 ccs per week every other day
4 centrums per day
10 grams fish oil per day
10 grams coq10 per day
Niacin
B12 injections weekly
Liv52
And about 10 other over the counter supplements

I've actually tried most of those. I get free product so I tend to order just stupid stuff to test out. Never noticed a difference, but then again I take other things in conjunction with B12 and Kyno which are very high in terms of bioavailability, so key vitamins and minerals I get more than what I need.

If you have serious issues with joints look into the aflutop, I have an articial right knee and no longer have any issues. The stuffs amazing for joint issues. Just hit an 800 pound squat so the shit works, if I tried that two years ago my knee would have snapped in two haha.

I lift 2x or 3x per week (free weights) plus I train in martial arts several times per week, so I stay in pretty good shape. I think the girls do appreciate a hardbody...of course they might just be telling me what I want to hear...

I am still a proponent of getting vitamins the natural way and that thru food. But i can see the case for supplements and what not. Ladies and guys don;t forget the benefits of water

Only weight lifting I have been doing is lifting my fat ass up of the couch. What do you pros suggest for a newbie starting out?
