And the same thing would happen if the state didn't pay people to sit on their ass. You do not have a free enterprise / capitalistic system when the state pays people not to work. So again, your argument is bogus.

So how much are you willing to pay for a tomato at the grocery store (Dove). $10.00, $25.00 (each). No one would buy them, they would rot in the store The stores would not buy them to sell since they could not cover the cost required to pay the labor cost to pick them.

Gee, how convenient. A million possible high school and college jobs, and you just happened to work at the one i just accused you of never working at.

The fact that these people showed up for even a first day indicates they're willing to work. They just determined that the job was not worth the pay. For all you know, the people we're talking about could have very well decided to flip burgers for minimum wage instead.

Exactly why i'm a liberal Jdriller. I (and you, and IB Hankering, and Cuteoldguy, and captainmidnight, and Marshall), we all benefit financially from people making meager wages. And your comment is proof. So you won't hear me whining when those same people benefit financially from my paying taxes.
In fact, I'd be willing to bet that we all benefit financially from the existence of poor people even more than poor people benefit financially from our paying taxes.
Thanks for making my point for me.

Can you call the medical argument bogus? Obviously you had no comment to that. Of course not, how can you argue a statement that is so true?

HINT: And there are a multitude of agricultural and industrial jobs among those "million possible" jobs . . . not just one.
P.S. Never worked for McDonalds, Burger King, etc., and never worked for Walmart, Kmart, etc. I often worked for men like Jackie S. and Giz - successful entrepreneurs who ran small businesses and who hired other people to work for them - while in high school and college.

Not everybody can work at the burger joints. Take away the state support to sit on your ass, and more people will do the necessary, menial work. But until you remove the state support that encourages people not to work, you'll never know what the real market rate for labor is.

What point? You've proved nothing. $300 per day is not a meager wage - your argument remains bogus.

I made a comment. I asked if you hurt your prissy little back doing manual labor?

Here they get nothing but shit afterwards. Do YOU want to make a few hundred dollars and pay thousands afterwards in medical bills?
Isn't it time to invent a machine that does this back breaking work?

I'm sure there is a machine that does the job, but the american farmers aren't willing to put in that expense. much cheaper to hire illegals than buy a new farm equipment.
Its happened before. Australian farmers went thru this same thing, they ended up investing to mechanize their farms.

And yes, it was a complete shit storm when Alabama enacted the new illegal immigration law. Grow Alabama put out an emergency call for workers and very few showed for a 2nd day.

didn't they end up having to use prison labor for that duty?

Doove is arguing, and he may correct me if I'm wrong, the same thing I have said. Illegal immigrants are doing jobs that Americans won't do at that wage level. Increase the wages and more Americans will do the work. That is a fact. It is clear that the employers of illegal aliens are doing so because they can hire them at a wage that is below equilibrium wages for that activity. It distorts the market, so in actuality, hiring illegals is anti-capitalistic for that reason. Remove the illegals, and employers will have to pay the equilibrium wage.
If that is what Doove meant, he is correct. If he meant something else, he's an idiot.
