Why is it that it seems that it is, in the greatest number of cases, some "loving" liberal that creates the drama. People that support a persons right to have a public opinion decided to show their support for that individual. Now comes a person spewing hate on a drive though fast food attendant and he is dumb enough to put his hate out there for the world to see. I would not want him working for me either. Dumbass bean counter.

I do not know how this thread became about race....oh well the CFO was exercising his 1rst amendment right to hate speech, just as Mr. Chic does with his actions. Just because Mr. Chic does hateful things in a nice quite way and talks about it respectfully, some of you defend that form of hate, yet seem to think it ok to punish Mr. CFO.

Questions:
1) What if the BOD at Chic dumped Mr. Chic for his words? Would ya'll think that ok?
2) Were Mr. Chic not the CEO but say the CFO of Chic Fil A, could he then say wtf he said without fear of being fired.
3) Can gay people that work at Chic Fil A disagree with their owner without fear of being fired?
4) Just how free are we to speak our mind?
5) How much do all of ya'll really defend the 1rst Amendment. I know a bunch of you scream 'liberty' 24/7 but just how much 1rst amendment rights do we really have?
6) How much do you have on this site?
7) Some of you have no problem with businesses taking away your 1rst Amendment rights (afterall who wants to get fired for speaking their mind) but scream bloody murder if say the government tried to restrict a business from being able to strip you of that right.
8) A conundrum if you will ....or am I off base for asking these questions?

WDF, what a private business does is their business. A person can exercise a free speech right but that does not give them a right to keep their job. That is up to the owner. If CFA fired Cathy for what he said that is their business. We then can choose where to eat.

You just go out of your way to be an asshole.

The First Amendment provides that CONGRESS shall pass no law abridging freedom of speech. Your employer can require standards of conduct. That's different.

Are you genuinely that ignorant, WDF? Or do you just pretend to be that way?

So the standard at CFA is an employee gets told by the owner who the employee can marry?

Sounds a lot like SLAVES to me.

I'm pretty sure CFA is in compliance with all employment laws relating to discrimination.

Does your employer place any restraints on your behavior? Do they require you to show up? SLAVERY! Do they require you to not bring discredit to the company? SLAVERY! Do they forbid you from promoting a competitor? SLAVERY!

If you work for anyone, or even for yourself, there are certain things you will or won't do. You won't keep employees who use drugs on the job. Are you a SLAVE OWNER by forbidding that? What morons.

In states where same-sex marriage is legal, I doubt that an employer could fire or refuse to hire anyone legally married, on that basis alone. Get real, people. Even where it's not legal, so what? If a same-sex couple gets married in a state where it isn't legal, they aren't married, so there is no basis to fire them for that reason.

You can be assholes all you want. The people on here with common sense get it.

There is logic in this. Don't fully agree word for word.... But good use of common sense.

Who the fuc wants to lose their job?

If you work for some uptight hypocrite like yourself , you'd be berated and fired for speaking your mind like this CFO was.

If you worked for me I could care less what you do off the job as long as you did a good job on the job.

You wanna go make a fool of yoiurself at a Chic Fil A drive thur, have at it. But if you work for COGay , he will fire your ass for exercising your 1rst Admendent right off the job!

COG would like to order him some hypocrisy along with his Spicy Chicken Sammie and a Super Size shot of Liberty!

By exercising his free speech rights he demonstrated he was an idiot. I suspect if he was a valuable employee they would have ignored his actions and stated his free speech rights to explain them not firing him. I would be willing to bet he was someone they wanted to get rid of and this just gave them the opportunity to do so.

He should have remembered the saying it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
