Apparently, some folks seek to justify their lack of self-esteem and respect for others, and do so at the expense of those who are insecure and needing approval among their peers.

If one perceives themselves as nothing more than a "whore," then perhaps it is not offensive, and even flattering for that self-image to be reinforced by those they "admire," while those they "admire" justify the labeling of the collective body based on the their "perception" that the collective body thinks alike.

Typically, people who lack respect for others, are deficient in the self-respect "department," and they are limited to attempting to bringing down other people to the "level the playing field" they have selected.

For some reason I thought this board was better on both sides of the aisle.

The guidelines certainly suggest that philosophy:

I know.............I'm agreeing with you.......................I feel dirty..................But yep, that's the long and short of it here in this microcosm. Unfortunately, many can't see past their own sexual experiences. The word is much broader and carries much more social stigma in society in general.

Some of us come to Eccie in order to find playmates for short-term encounters. Some come her in order to insult others in an attempt to make themselves feel significant and powerful by trying to put others down.

Every time you read an insult, don't get mad. Feel sorry for the pitiful little man (or woman) who is so powerless that he has to resort to the anonymous insulting of strangers on a hobby board in order to feel like he matters, and maybe feel a tiny bit better about himself.

For what it's worth, I'm not OH's fan, but I see significant differences in the two situations.

In her rather lengthy thread she was calling one person (i.e. me) names, no doubt trying to rattle me. Anyone who knows me knows that it takes far more than this to make me angry. Did OH know that? I have no idea.

Here, we're discussing the use of the word "whore" as a pejorative in the context of a hobby board. It's a safe bet that a significant number of the female members here have experienced that term used as a slur targeted at them, and a significant number of those find it degrading and offensive.
