COG I am not saying and never have said that I support this position, rather I was just explaining that to many people what the President said can be construed as true. Of course simple simon only picks out the parts of a post which he can manipulate.

Shovel ready, what the fuck are you talking about, I never said anything of the sort. Which store do you speak of, I own several, however your figures might need a little adjusting. I am far from pissed, in fact I am semi retired at 46 and will be fully retired at 50. So when I see you at the entrance to Walmart, I can ask you how your retirement plan is working out for you.

Bottom line, is your such a dumb fuck that you take 1 line out of what he said and you make a giant thing out of it and when someone calls you on your bullshit you cant handle it. I am not a fan of Obama in fact I didnt vote for him and wont in the next election, but I am even more sick of the bullshit from the extremes on both sides. Oh hey do me a favor will yah, tell your mama that I left the donation on the night table next to the mouthwash, please tell her that she needs to watch the teeth next time.

DD, I wasn't directing anything at you, it was just a general statement. If I want to insult you, I will try to be specific, so far the only emotion I feel toward you is jealousy at being smart enough, and bold enough to retire at 50.

So if you insist on calling me Simple Simon, I will add that to my list of possible new screen names, but to be honest, I'm leaning toward "Other Old Idiot."

But I do think more jobs are being created than lost in this technological time. It's just that the US is not economically friendly to those jobs, so they are locating overseas. I wish there were a simple solution, but there isn't.

Dammit! I got so caught up in the discussion I forgot to kiss MsElena's ass! I'm so sorry, MsElena! Whatever you said, I agree totally!

It comes from being the "Other Old Idiot." I'll try to not let it happen again.

COG your many things but simple simon is not one of them. As for the rest I agree. I guess what I should have stated is the technology is eliminating those jobs available to individuals who do not have the education for the new one's being developed, these individuals however do spend a lot of money as a block and if they are not working they are not spending.

That sounds reasonable to me. Technology is evolving faster than people can be, or want to be retrained. Technology jobs will seek a job market with the greatest intelligence and the lowest labor cost. It might suck but that's just the way it is in this world right now.

Just tell me what CPU's, cell phones, or processors we make here. Ask the people laid off who made 20 plus a hour at ford or other factories. Even a ask all those customer service people who lost their jobs do the fact that it's just as cheap to transfer your calls to India. Tech does make jobs losses and this sorry as schooling does not help ether. You even pay more to pay your bills in person. Were do you think all those cell phones are made. Plus banks give you every reason to not visit a branch.

Pay attention, Cheaper. I said plenty of jobs have been created, just not here because our economic policy makes it cheaper to outsource.

Cog my dear old mentor of how to be a dirty old man. I did not say I was on one side or the other. What I did say that tech has reduced the amount of people needed to do one job. My mention of CPU's and cell phones go's with the out sourcing problems. And it's not our policy that makes this happen it's greed and giving companies tax breaks while all they give is a big fuck you to the masses that pay for their extra nice homes and cars.
That is why when the gov talks about jobs they build roads and stuff because the factory jobs are all about gone. Pretty soon there will be no blue collar jobs. And just wait till McDonalds learns how to have a robot to serve your big Mac.

Cheaper, as long as they never invent robot strippers, I can live with that.

Deacon, I am semi-retired now, and luckily I have enough money to last the rest of my life. That is, unless I want to buy something.

Working 3 days a week is not retired, its semi retired, how am I being an internet tough guy, because I called you a dumb fuck, hate to be the one to point it out but you are. I also seriously doubt that your giving up your career at Wendy's is actually retiring. In fact I dont believe your close to retiring, your just trying to not look like the idiot that you are.

At least he didn't blame President Bush this time.
The automobiles that caused the downfall of the buggy whip industry didn't have to deal with outsourcing or automation. Those Model Ts painted with Japan black paint were painted by hand in the USA, not by robots. And not overseas.

You can blame the federal government, but I'd rather blame corporations and consumers. The government only does what those corporations and consumers/citizens want. Both groups are greedy as fuck and want cheap shit. So, that's what they get.
