Well actually what he says is in fact happening in America, technology is eliminating jobs which are not being replaced. Example. Blockbuster was replaced by Redbox, Blockbuster employeed 14500 people nationwide, Redbox employees 500. Net job loss due to technology, 14000. What new industry has developed which replaces the 14000 jobs lost, this is just one example.

Guess he's not so stupid afterall huh? All you had to do is research this topic a little more and you'd be able to see for yourself that he among others are correct.

DD made a good point. Blockbuster went belly up because of Netflix and Redbox. Plus, Netflix was/is cheaper than Blockbuster. Which is easier, fighting off the people on a friday night for a new movie or just walking up to a Redbox, pick your movie and you're done or hop online/your wii and order your movie?

We're a society of people who want and/or need instant gratification, we want things to be easy and not have to do a lot of work.

I am not sure what Bush has to do with this conversation and I am not saying poor Obama either, but the facts are the facts. Maybe someday you will be able to seperate intellectual thought from political partisanship, I doubt it your just the GOP counter point to Longermonger so in fact you cancel each other out which is actually a gift for the rest of us.

I dont believe that anyone said that the unemployment rate was the be all end all result of job losses due to technology. Anyone who picks and chooses pits and pieces of a post to determine a position is just stupid.. end of story.

President Obama is simply grasping at a few straws to deflect attention from his dismal performance economically. Technological advances change jobs, they do not eliminate jobs. The auto industry wreaked hell on the buggy whip industry, but new jobs were created, and the buggy whip industry disappeared. There are plenty of tech jobs out there, but due to how the economy is being managed in the US, those jobs are in China and India. Not blaming the President for that, that started long ago, and the economy has been mishandled for decades. But he promised change, and it's the same old, same old. At least he didn't blame President Bush this time.

COG I agree with you, I am not a big supporter of Obama, in fact I am more "the GOP does not have anyone" than I am "Obama is doing the right things". What would be amazing would be if both sides would actually listen to what the other side is saying, now they just dismiss it as stupid because it was not uttered by a member of their party. Maybe if they would actually listen and mold a game from with ideas from both sides of the spectrum we could turn this around. Until then we are stuck with the likes of Deacon and Longermonger the extreme from both sides and nothing gets done.
