this would also bolster Israel's now or never approach, that Iran is very close to having enough material. that took years to accumulate, the device itself is easy to make and they probably have the device ready. it's only a matter of enough material.
i saw a report today that was interesting. the Israelis have a regiment of special forces they deployed in Syria several years ago to take out an underground rocket plant Syria was allowing Iran to build/operate. it's very similar to fordow about 300 feet deep. they took control by force and used high explosives to destroy it.
i think Israel will attempt an assault on the site. they may first use what they have to damage the facility but most experts don't think they don't have enough large scale munitions to do the job. i think Trump's "2 weeks" deadline comes from Israel telling the US their plan. and if Israel can succeed it gets the US off the hook.
if they don't succeed then if Trump is serious about no nukes for Iran he sends the B-2s in.

Wait a min,
Don't the Israelis need Mongo to attack RockRidge?
But, yes actually entering the underground and destroying the place might be preferable to the Iranian's digging out some cave ins later and finding usable equipment.

Trump is desperate to get a Nobel peace prize. If the US gets directly involved, he doesn't have a chance.
Here is what he said today:
"President Donald Trump said Friday he should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for what he claims was his role in brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan last month, as well as for his supposed efforts to help resolve conflicts in Rwanda, Serbia and the Congo."

And then there is this….

Everybody had ulterior motives for why they do things. It seems many automatically discount any motives of President Trump not based on the merits of his actions but on the hatred of the man.

Yes, it did take years to accumulate. How did that happen? The reason it happened is because Trump cancelled the Obama nuke deal that the USA had with Iran and five other countries. That was a 10 year deal signed in 2015. Trump cancelled the deal in 2018. So Iran had 7 plus years to enrich from 4% concentration to over 60% concentration of Uranium ("isotope") U-235. From post #7.
Tensions continued to grow, however, until Barack Obama’s landmark deal with Iran in 2015. It was negotiated together with the UK, France, Germany, Russia and China, with Albright advising the US behind the scenes. He knew it wasn’t perfect, but Tehran had agreed to limit its nuclear programme to merely research and electricity generation, and allowed international inspectors to monitor compliance, in return for sanctions relief. It was a major breakthrough.
Unfortunately, Donald Trump “always hated the deal,” says Albright. Two years into his first term as President, he withdrew the US from the agreement and reimposed severe sanctions on Iran.
That led the Iranian regime to gradually increase uranium enrichment from the agreed 3.67 per cent level to more 60 per cent now, way beyond what’s needed for civil use. It would need to rise again to 90 per cent to produce material for a weapon, but Albright and others say that would not take long. It should have enough to make six bombs.
Bottom line is if Trump had not cancelled the Obama nuke deal with Iran in 2018, Iran would NOT be at 60% concentration of enriched Uranium "U-235" right now.

If Trump had not, for years, campaigned for the Nobel Peace Prize he would undoubtedly have more support for the award than he currently has. Has any recipient of the award so blatantly pushed himself/herself for the award?

Let the facts speak.
The Nobel Peace Prize was thoroughly cheapened when it was awarded to President Elect Obama than for no other reason than he simply showed up.
I would call it the ultimate in “participation trophy’s”.
At the very least, President Trump is putting peace first when he has the power to destroy any enemy the Country might face.

Of course he thinks he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for not blowing up the world.
Frankly, what Trump is doing is what Trump has ever done. Make noise.
Anybody who does support his campaign for the Nobel obviously has TDS.

I think you're still on topic. From Jacky's link,
Some analysts in Pakistan said the move might persuade Trump to think again about potentially joining Israel in striking Iran’s nuclear facilities. Pakistan has condemned Israel’s action as a violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.
That probably played in part in why Pakistan nominated President Trump.

It was cheapened a few times before that, so much that Obama's award was yawn-producing.

You guys are annoying with all of your "if Obama had not", and "Iran would be far less than 60% enriched, if Trump..."
We get it. The question is what do you want to do NOW? Barely anyone responding to the question. You guys who typically smack each other around gleefully, can barely muster a word beyond the history of how we got here.
I think Trump begins the bombing 120-168 hours from now. No Israeli attempt first. We need all counter action potential in place, Trump needs to meet with European leaders first, but they will not influence any decision. Just for reasons of courtesy. Only thing that would stop it, is Iran caving last minute, which won't happen. Their BS about "were happy to negotiate if you call off Israel" is lame shitt, Trump would look like TACO on steroids if he accepts that.
