				Car keys, security

So there's a security gap most hobbyists expose themselves to which I've been thinking about lately.

A few years ago I heard about a hobbyist who was ripped off by a sketchy provider who unlocked his car via his key fob remote while he was in the bathroom, and her partner in crime then rifled through through his car for cash and valuable items.

Ever since I've been very careful about where my keys are, and quite often I just bring a valet key into the incall.

And I'm not worried about getting stuff stolen as much as I am about getting my identity compromised.

Valet key or not there are scenarios where I can imagine getting separated from the key, and it being used to obtain access to the vehicle during a rendezvous.

What I really wish I had is a combination remote that I would carry into the incall. I don't know if such a thing exists, but it would be of no use to a crooked provider. Ideas?

(The old "hide-a-key" isn't exactly a secure solution IMO, so don't suggest it...)

I can't remember the product name but it has been around for several years and even BestBuy had it and could install it. It allows your phone to track, lock, unlock, remote start, your vehicle. I think it might even be able to open/close power windows and possibly do other things too. With that, you could take a dummy key in from some old vehicle that isn't used any more. For this situation, they wouldn't be able to get in your car. But if they stole your phone too and you didn't have it locked, you might be screwed but if the phone was locked, you might lose your phone but you'd still have a car....hopefully.
--->>> Just found it. It is the Viper line.

If you're that concerned about it, perhaps you could install a kill switch under the dash so that the electrical system is disabled? I guess I don't think about such things since my car is old enough to only have manual door locks.

There was a commercial I have seen recently where this guys daughter locked the keys in the car (or something like that) and she called her dad and he unlocked it from his phone. I don't think it was advertising the specific brand of security system, I think they were advertising the model car that it came on from the factory.

			Try this:

1. Remove the key from the key fob.

2. Leave the key fob hidden inside the car.

3. Carry the key with you to the incall.

4. After your session, use the key to unlock the car's driver-side door.

5. Replace key in fob, start car and go on your way.

Only works if they're separate. The car I drive most of the time has the remote built into the master key. I do have a valet key, though, which I will use in scenarios like this sometimes. Or I will simply park far enough away that I know the car can't be unlocked from the incall room.

Bingo! If you're worried about your identity being compromised, you should do this anyway to make it harder for someone to get your plate number.

			Two solutions
Remove battery from key fob

Hide real key fob in clothing while bringing a dead key fob

watch'em go blue in the face trying to unlock your car

How about not leaving your pants in one room and going into the other?

Unmmm, how about seeing a better class of provider? Might pay off on several levels.

That is a very good idea! I see some extremely trustworthy ladies. It's nice to not have to worry about things like the OP mentioned. But he is wise to think of the possibility and do what he's doing to prevent it. He has a good idea though that might help some guys avoid problems.

Yea, stick with the better provider and you shouldn't have this issue. But even with a better provider I never park right at her door...just seems like common sense to me.

My main vehicle vehicle has keyless/fobless entry.

My hobby vehicle has a "disappear" button I press just after closing the driver door.

Edit: and op,....be more worried about the theft. The hooker already knows your identity.

Most mid range to higher end FORDS have a keyless entry system.. aka a keypad.

I have tested this. Put my keys in a hidden place in the car, locked it with the other set / keyfob and used keypad to get in and get keys.

This also works well for hiding extra stuff.. aka extra $$ you should not be bringing to the incall, or you can hide a small pistol next to them.. if they force you to open the car you unlock it and tell the keys are in the trunk but you have to release from the glove box, you open, get the hidden pistol and pop em if they have a gun. if not you tell them to GO AWAY.

very least they won't be robbing you while you getting laid
