So the NFL owners and players union representatives have made a deal and we will have an NFL Season. BFG! BFG! BFG!

Now all you loosers can go watch the biggest bunch of babies and over rated football players in a stadium your tax dollars paid for. Give your hard earned money to a total jerk that has money but not much else. Yes I am talking about Jerry Jones.

The local newspapers and radio show hosts will try and figure out what took so long to work out a new contract between the owners and the players. The local media will blast Jerry Jones about what a poor owner he is and try to compare him to Mark Cubin and his Mavericks.

I would rather go watch North Texas or SMU get their butts kicked up and down the field in the true spirit of competition. The NFL sucks, The Dallas Cowboys suck too. Let these guys (the players) go out and work a regular job everyday and tell their employers they want a part of their business as well as making a salary. Sounds like a bunch of babies throwing a tantrum and crying about how they deserve more. The NFL is not a game, its a business and thats all.

If I were an NFL player and I was going to make say $5 million dollars for playing a game, I would say hell yes. But these guys are willing to sit home for more money or whatever? Like I said the players are a bunch of babies and the owners are even worse.

And yes SMU had a great year last season and went to a bowl game and that program is back on its feet.

I just hope college football does not turn into a pro sport, and its getting close. So much money in sports these days.

And yes the players are whining about the deal. I would still like to see these guys go to work at a job that pays a traditional average salary which in the DFW area would be about $70,000 and see how much bitching they would do.

The mistake the owners made was not in setting a deadline for the players to accept the deal. One preseason game has already been cancelled, and at $200 million a pop, they should have put the ball in the players court more firmly. Still, the unanimous vote was a good PR move.

I'm fine with replacement players. Five years ago, most of the players in the NFL were college students or nobodys. Then rookies entering the league without ever having played a down demanded huge guaranteed dollars for their unproven services. Fuck 'em. I can get used to new nobodys making a lot less money.

Players and owners, I'm assuming you're both on this site regularly. Please get your shit together.

Actually SMU has gone to back to back bowl games and played for the conference championship last year. Tickets are still cheap and good seats are almost, always available. I have to tell you guys, the scenery is not bad either. I'll go to those games before I give Stretch Face Jones any money.

Would you believe I hold the record for purchasing the most tickets for an SMU game? Oklahoma State played SMU what 4 years ago(?) when I lived in Dallas. It was like 47 tickets. The ticket manager came over and introduced himself

Another thing that bugs me about Cowboys Stadium is the parking prices - $75 a game for Club parking, and $50 or $60 for parking in Rangers parking lots. I finally quit buying parking with my season tickets and buy them on ebay, where they never seem to go for face value.

One of the first things I did when looking into the Cowboys new stadium was to see what kind of food they have. This makes sense. I am a fat person, so my first inquiry into any new facility will be of a culinary variety. But when you go to the official site for the Double J’s new McMansionrena, you can only get a broad overview of what to expect from the stadium catering. There’s no menu, and there are certainly no prices. Because if you have to ask, of course, then you aren’t a true fan.
But one enterprising fellow, Steven M. Sipple (great last name) at Husker Extra (via With Leather and The Sporting Blog), did just that. And what did he find on the luxury suite menu there? Ooh, look! Cheese pizza! That sounds okay. What’s it cost?
Try $90.

Cowboyrita drinks for 14 bucks a pop… Tuesday’s tour took our group into a suite that can be leased for $800,000 a year — which doesn’t include the price of game or event tickets but does offer a large pizza for $90 (no toppings), 12-packs of domestic beer for $66 apiece and a four-pack of Red Bull for $22, among other ridiculously priced items.

That’s $90 for a plain pizza. It doesn’t fly. It doesn’t massage your testicles. It’s just a pizza. Want fresh basil on it? That’ll be an extra $20 there, fella. I can almost see paying $90 for a pizza if it’s flown by helicopter directly from Totonno’a in New York or Modern Apizza in New Haven, and then served on Megan Fox’s chest. That would be a $90 pizza. But I suspect the luxury suite pizza at the new Cowboys Stadium is closer to a lukewarm Red Baron pie served in a cardboard box featuring an illustration of Jerry Jones giving you the finger.
The other items are no less egregious. $14 for a Cowboyrita? Unless it’s served in an actual size cowboy hat, I’m not biting. The frozen margarita is always an easy way for vendors to rip off customers by giving them a slush puppy with three drops of tequila in it. And $66 for a 12-pack of Bud? Red Bull for $22? That’s insane. And just WAIT until you see what they charge for gruel. I haven’t seen gruel prices this inflated since the Depression. Hope you got your Party Pass, gang!
Update: Todd Archer, reporter and homemade sandwich eater for the Morning News, reports that the pizza is $60 "from what I was told." Obese fans, please let us know what you see when you go.

But whats worse than the menu prices for food is the ticket prices to watch a bunch of babies that tell us how great they are at being football players. A Family of four will pay about $1,200 for tickets, parking, food and maybe a t-shirt. And the owners and player all bitch cry and moan about how they are millionaires and still not making enough money. I would rather go watch the roller derby or even wrestling. At least I know they are fake and that I wont have to empty my bank account for a night out.

We all chose how we want to spend our discretionary funds - I spend some of mine hobbying and some watching live sports. Despite all the caterwauling players and owners (and the grossly overpriced food, tickets, parking, etc.) the experience at Cowboys Stadium is great, and I can't wait for the season to start, so I can buy a few $8 beers and watch the huge TV.

I'm thankful the NFL has an agreement. I watch it on TV, so I don't care about parking and beer prices. If we can get this debt ceiling worked out, I'm set into 2012.
