I haven't seen that article. certainly more has more info than other articles about mccain and the pows.

since John McCain is dead, will there be any movement to get that law repealed (1991 McCain bill)??? what it did was make the truth about POWs that much more difficult to be revealed or declassified.

the pow coverup is truly extraordinary... a 46 year cover up. McCain & Kerry made it possible.

a lot of unanswered questions....

John McCain was a North Vietnamese agent? Give me a fucking break. McCain put up with more pain and suffering when he was a POW than anybody here who's never suffered from an extreme health condition. He was a hero. Unlike Cruz and Rubio, he exhibited a little backbone when confronted by Donald Trump so people trash him even after his death.

never said he was one.

but you do have to question his behavior towards the people & families of pows who were trying to uncover answers and the fact that he was a sponsor of the bill designed to suppress POW data.

this cover up involved the pentagon & the executive and some cases senators of the intel committees and Vietnam itself.

some war hero he was. I think people would have a very different view of McCain if his file was unsealed.

It looks to me that this is a coverup of Nixon's fuck up over the POWs.

what I can't understand is why they didn't make the Vietnam's ransom for reparations public.

the whole thing was kept hush-hush thru 5 presidents. not sure about Clinton, bush43, Obama & Trump.

It was McCain who tried to sink Trump. Trump just returned the favor.

because Nixon and Kissinger were so eager to get a Deal, however phony. Nixon's election in 1972 hinged on getting a Peace Deal, they had to make it appear as if the North Vietnamese capitulated. was it any surprise, that after the Nixon Administration caved on that issue, that Saigon was toppled 2 years later, with barely any resistance?

CT - we should never have been in a war in Viet Nam. Ho Chi Minh pleaded with the US for recognition and aid as a nationalist in 1944-47. Was refused due to alliance with the French as allies - and Minh accepted the French after WW2 rather than have the Chinese roll in. Dulles in 1954 contributed to the failure - and led to US intervention with Ho Chi Minh labelled a Communist.

US failure and loyalty to France set the stage for the Revolt against the French.

Ho Chi Minh was a nationalist first and foremost - and unifying Viet Nam was his mission in life - one he achieved.

It is clear that a war across long supply lines, in a country far away where One cannot tell friend from foe - is a losing war. The American Revolution, Afghanistan, and Viet Nam are prime examples of that - One cannot impose a foreign rule on indigenous peoples in such situations.

Viet Nam and Ho wore out the Americans - despite superior weapons systems. .
i agree with your post above.

Comments from you.would be interesting

here's the curious thing.. when french troops fell to vietnam, vietnam got their independence and they also ransomed french pows. France paid them off.

instead off paying them, nixon gov went into cover up mode.

the nixon impeachment inquiry may have been a factor. he resigned in 1973.

should Vietnam get reparations as promised in 1972 paris deal?
