Default Texas Gov Abbott really hates providers and clients!

So much so he has signed bill HB1540 making a first time conviction of exchanging money for sexual content buying or selling a felony.
https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/87...l/HB01540F.htm

See section 29

SECTION 29. Sections 43.02(b) and (c-1), Penal Code, are
transferred to Section 43.021, Penal Code, as added by this Act,
redesignated as Sections 43.021(a) and (b), Penal Code,
respectively, and amended to read as follows:
(a) [(b)] A person commits an offense if the person
knowingly offers or agrees to pay a fee to another person for the
purpose of engaging in sexual conduct with that person or another.
(b) [(c-1)] An offense under Subsection (a) [(b)] is a state
jail felony [Class A misdemeanor], except that the offense is:
(1) a [state jail] felony of the third degree if the
actor has previously been convicted of an offense under Subsection
(a) or under Section 43.02(b), as that law existed before September
1, 2021 [(b)]; or
If I am not mistaken this comes with 6 months jail. I'm sure this will do wonders to prevent trafficking which is why almost as many Democrats sponsored the bill as Republicans.

Actually sorry I don't mean to offend any Republicans with my title either. I am sure Greg actually hates the sin and loves the sinner. That's why he's struck down previous legislation that would help sex workers clean up their records after they do their time. Anyways I can see how this law might be crippling to the hobby in Texas. Got to keep the holes holy!

Whoa. Never let a crisis go to waste. This should be a BIG discussion, as this affects everyone in the state of TX involved in this "community".

Interesting break down by someone following the "sex work" industry...

Be curious to hear Shyster Jon's thoughts, if he's still around here.

I’m confused as to whether a first time offense is a felony. In your link “Class A Misdemeanor” is crossed out which might mean it is.

Can you blame this entirely on Abbott? Or is it the legislature or lawyers working for the state who came up with this crock of shit?

Abbot, like Trump, sees his base slipping away and needs to keep feeding them in order to survive.

And the Texas Leg has more crazy bible thumping assholes than ever before,

It’s a perfect storm.

That Twitter entry is interesting. Will they use this law to try to restrict onlyfans and similar in TX. I'm bet they will try at least...

This.

Abbott has gone off the rails the past few months. He used to be a Conservative, reasonable Politician. Now he is jerking that Wheelchair as far right as it will go. Obviously making a calculated decision to attack any and all people he views as adversaries. This morning he blocked pay for Legislators as punishment for holding up his regressive voter rights bill. This guy is to the right of Tom Cotton now.

I used to be jealous of you guys in Dallas in terms of the "hobby". Not so much now. As I read, could even apply to extras at strip clubs.

Who are the people who like harsher laws against non-violent crimes like banging prostitutes?

Just dumb fucking boomers or what?

Boomers are both queerbaiting hippies and dumb fuck ultra conservative assholes who might want to see millions of people in prison for weed and trying to get laid.

I blame all the worlds problems on them.

The hippies started all the gay queer shit, and the ultra conservative assholes started all the other gay shit.

Personally, I blame those politicians seeking the support of the hard core religious right and willing to enact legislation to cater to them. Never mind what they do in their personal lives...witness Eric Greitens and I could name a few others and suspect others who just haven't been caught.

Should be noted that plenty of Democrats joined in, as well, in support of a feminist agenda against sex work.
