Musk leaving DOGE news conference
As part of a news conference today, Musk is leaving DOGE.
Have to give credit to Trump. At this news conference he looked somewhat more Presidential, and his rhetoric was much better. Toned down. Maybe he was just tired, but if he could do more of these, he would be more liked.

I think Musk had good intentions. He seemed to get a little too caught up in that MAGA fantasy bravado bullshit a bit much but at least he came back to his senses. Unfortunately, shredding $2,000,000,000,000 is not as easy as it sounds for a part time job.
With a black eye and looking as ready to go as he did from what little I saw of the news conference, it was a smart move by a smart man. Neither he nor his companies need the backlash received because of his strong ties to a buffoon like Trump.
Sorry MAGAs, I guess you folks will have to wait a bit longer for that never was going to happen $5K check in the mail. Haha

Elon Musk Mass Murderer?
I heard this from David Brooks tonight on the PBS News Hour when they were talking about Elon Musk and DOGE.
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/br...t-and-agencies
David Brooks:
Yes, I'm not sure it was wreckage. There was wreckage if you're at NIH. There are wreckage at certain agencies, but the guy only saved $65 billion out of a multitrillion-dollar budget.
So, as a budget matter, you would not say he had a big effect, but he did manage to destroy NIH and USAID. And the USAID one is the one I haven't gotten over. And so there's folks at Boston University who count, how many people have died because of what DOGE did at USAID? And USAID was a very ill-managed organization. That's true.
But according to the Boston University folks, so far, 55,000 adults have died of AIDS in the four months since Trump was elected, 6,000 children are dead because of what DOGE did. That's just PEPFAR, the HIV. You add them all up, that's 300,000 dead, and we're four months in.
Now, you add, accumulate that over four years, the number of dead grows very high. There are mass murderers in the world, Pol Pot, Mao Tse-Tung, Stalin. We don't have anybody on the list from America. And I don't think it's the same as committing the kind of genocide they did. But by taking away that agency and being at least semi-responsible for the deaths of probably by the end of this hundreds of thousands of millions of people, that's Elon Musk's legacy.
And the people who work at Tesla and SpaceX may want to think about that.

Don't miss the reality.
Musk criticized Trump's budget bill. The next day or 2, he is out.

But the damage has already been done. Musk and the Trump establishment are painting this as a win when the result of closing USAID the way they did is real and deadly.
To deny the reality of dying children not only insults the memory of children starving to death in Sudan and Yemen and Afghanistan; it also insults the intelligence of Americans. To rejoice in cost savings is particularly repugnant.

So there are no Governments in Sudan, Yemen, and Afghanistan whose responsibility it would be to take care of their citizens?

Biting the hand that has fed you is not a good look either.
The reality is that the world changes.
