What should I do?
I have had my cell for many years now and I'm seriously thinking of canceling my number for a new one as I get all kinds of soliciting texts, calls from everything from roofers, candidates, and everything and everybody. Its really annoying and I'm not quite sure I have any options. I've reached out to my carrier and they have spam blocking sw but that doesn't really help either. I have the iPhone 16 Pro I use the block and report option but that doesn't work either. I'm on the National "Do Not call" registry and that doesn't work either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciative.
Thx

Try "Block...
Unrecognized Numbers" in Settings.
Basically, if the caller isn't in your contacts list, it gets blocked. Depending on your carrier, the call may get forwarded to voice mail.
Problem is, MD's, Vets (pet MDs, not those who served), hair cutters, everybody call back or confirms from different numbers!

Just call your carrier and say you are being harassed by telemarketers and wrong numbers.
They should change your number at NO COST ONCE if you never request a number change before.
They are not LEGALLY required to but as a courtesy they should.
If they want to charge you, hold your ground and tell them you will go to another carrier.
Especially if you been a customer with them a long time, they hate to lose you.
Also log into your account and go to the options and find if they are selling your information.
There should be some place where you have the OPTION to OPT OUT of your information and your phone number and address to be sold to parties that your cellular company partners with.
Same for other services like your Bank, Credit Card company, Internet Service, Cable TV Service, even your Kroger or Tom Thumbs or other Grocery Stores rewards card.
They will share your information with other businesses they partner with and those businesses will sell your information, all without your knowledge and consent.
But you should be able to OPT OUT of it.

Well I know I can change my number but thats such a drag as I've had the number for many years which means I will have to start giving it out again to fam and relatives all over again. I just wished there was a way to stop all these damn calls and the annoying texts. The texts are ones that piss me off the most as they keep coming and there doesn't appear to be a damn thing I can do about it other than change numbers....

Download the nomorobo app on your phone. If you use you cell phone for business purposes, there is no DNC list for businesses. Many times, when you look at things online and especially if you give your phone number out to try to get cheaper insurance for instance, due to cookies, you will get bombarded with other companies trying to sell you their similar program.

Your private info and number probably has been dumped out on the web or dark web. They have apps now that can search for your number and clean that up. I'd try that to start.

Block them. Then get another phone. I maintain one phone for business and one for personal.
