Default Sheria Law In NYC?

Mandani has been sworn in as mayor of New York City. As Han Solo famously said, "I have a bad feeling about this . . .".

One of his camping themes was "affordability" of rent. WellOK, that has been done before in NYC. We will have to see how that goes. But I am less concerned about that.

Mandani has sworn to uphold both the Constitution of the. USA and the Constitution of The State Of New York . . .but it is my expectation that he will not be strong in this.

How long will it be before he facilitates an all Moslem apartment complex? How long after that will there evolve as Sheria Law only area where the laws of our modern society are not enforced? I can see a condominium apartment building whose board declares Shirea Law for the entire building. . . .or a homeowner's Association in a residential area of Queens.Things like that have happened in England and France and their police do not go there.

Will Mandani enforce Federal, State and local laws that conflict with Sheria law?

Again, we will have to wait and see. I am hopeful that he will, but not expectant.

It works both ways, as Christians don’t always follow the laws either…..like the clerk in Kentucky, I think it was, that refused to issue a legal marriage license.

Anytime religion and government intermix, you can guarantee a cluster fuck will ensue.

elg…..

Islamophobic comments.

This is America.

If OP is anything, it’s predictable.

Do any of these threads that encourage ignorant racist comments ever end well?

Mayor Zohran Mamdani will never implement sharia law wholesale on the public in New York.

However that doesn’t mean that groups of religious people won’t implement a version of sharia law in their own communities.

It’s no different than the customs, traditions and religious laws that make up some parts of orthodox Judaism or even the Amish.

It’s called religious freedom and it’s spelled out in the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

The art of the Troll, I guess.

Let's see if there's a response by the OP.

Sometimes they do! People DO get held to account here if they exceed the guidelines on racist tropes, insults, etc.

religious freedom isn't freedom to commit crime according to the Constitution

Again sharia law or orthodox judiasm or amish custom is only applicable in the United States if the individual consents to its rules and restrictions.

From an article in the Austin American Statesman.

https://archive.ph/82Bq9

But experts say the rhetoric is playing on a deep misunderstanding of Sharia law, which is religious law in the same way that Torah governs Judaism. Both lay out a broad set of principles for followers and address matters including how to pray and follow an appropriate diet. It is not actually law anywhere in the U.S., and Texas law prohibits it from being enforced in state courts.

The OP’s premise is flawed in its conception.

NYC is only than a week into Mandani's administration.

Time will show us all exactly who he is and what he stands for.

Everyone is on record now and the topic is live.

We will come back to this in the coming weeks and months I am sure.
