Default Should People Not Show Up to Protest With Firearms

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...e/88348880007/

Seems those typical Trumpers on this site have decided that showing up to protest with firearms means that being killed by the police is justifiable. That does not appear to the be position of the NRA and other gun rights groups.

In fact, the typical Trumpers only seem to have come to that position recently as most if not all stated exactly the opposite previously. I have only even seen them write such silliness when they are justifying the death of someone they disagree with politically and have never being intellectually honest (though I would actually say that half of that description is true of the Trumpys, pick either).

"I don't know of any peaceful protesters that shows up with a gun and ammunition rather than a sign," said Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Guess she doesn't remember Charlottesville...or Oregon...or Seattle...or Kenosha...or Lansing...

The hypocrisy is staggering.

Support Rittenhouse murdering 2 men while extolling his right to carry arms anywhere and commit murder as he saw fit……

Condemn Pretti for exercising his 2nd amendment rights while he was being disarmed, maced and shot multiple times by fucking cowards after being unarmed……

So, it seems the logical conclusion should be MAGA is dropping support of the 2nd Amendment.

Truly staggering. But things are looking up! Notice that none of the Trump loyalists have chimed in on this thread to defend this inanity. They know they went too far this time. In more ways than one.

They actually have a right to. Whether they should or shouldn't is immaterial.

I live in a state where it is legal to walk around with a holstered gun openly displayed on your belt. . . .without a concealed carry permit or another paperwork.

Just because something can be done does not mean that it is prudent for one to do it.

I don't do not openly carry as I think it is a bad idea.

Acting beligerantly when interacting with LE is also a bad idea, even if they are wrong.

Going to a protest while openly armed and intentionally interfering with LEOs as they are performing their police function is also a bad idea . . . .a really bad idea . . .as we have seen.

It is not settled yet, but it may be that the ICE officers acted improperly or even illegally (we don't definitively know yet). In any case, legal though it may be . . . . bringing a gun to. protest and interacting with the police does in fact seem to be a bad idea.

Openly armed? He was holding his cellphone. He was permitted to concealed carry. Nobody saw the gun until they had him on the ground, beating the shit out of him.

By interfering with ICE doing its duties - please explain. He was using his phone to record ICE kicking the shit out of another protester.

The MAGA view of this tragic incident is warped at best. Denial, refusal, lies... all of them too.

That fucker executed Pritti.

Was this anything like the "assassination attempts" last year? Absolutely not. One was an execution, the others were theater, complete with props.

Back to original post...
Is it a good idea to carry a legal firearm to a protest?
Personally I don't think it's a good idea...but that would apply to the militia folks as well.
That said, it's not an excuse to blame Pretti for his death

The ICE/DHS/CBP folks do have a hard job..but IMO this time they made a mistake...unfortunately in their line of work a mistake can cost a lot.
