Default 'Disgusting Gross' question.

I remember Mom would make due with the money Dad made and gave her to take care of the household and buy groceries and plan 2-3 square meals daily.

My Mom never worked a day in her life: back then many women didn't work, they stayed home and raised families and kept the house tidy and clean.

Anyway, so we were on a budget and Mom would buy whatever the money allowed her to buy to feed us.

One of the things she made was (cow) Liver and Onions.

Sometimes Chicken and Pig livers too.

I also vaguely remember she made Pig Brains soup.

We didn't like the Liver & Onion but it was eat it or go to bed hungry after Mom gives you a beating for not eating it.

There is no, okay, you don't like it, Mom will order a pizza or DoorDash or Uber Eats instead.

So my question is:

are there any restaurants in Dallas Fort Worth and surrounding areas (Plano, McKinney, Richardson, Irving, etc etc) that actually serves a good

Beef Liver & Onions?

I don't know how many ways can you prepare Liver & Onions.

But if I still remember it correctly, (a lot of memory block there) Mom just took a pan, heat up some oil and fry up the onions and the big slices of liver.

Beef Liver, Onions and some Fried Potatoes. Still a favorite meal, but only found rarely at some of the Mom and Pop places in rural areas.

Thanks for replying.

I Google for it and looked on Yelp and Trip Advisor, etc and really can't find anything on it.

Maybe Mom didn't make it properly and that's why we wouldn't eat it.

Country Cafe, 110 W Airport Fwy Suite 777, Irving, still has liver and onions on their entree menu. Also a good place to get a good breakfast without being rushed out.

it is very easy to make but we did the other organs too.
Beef liver. heart ect in a big black iron pot, brown then let simmer for an hour.
Pork has a different taste but dad would pick up Hog Head cheese.. AKA Pig brain jelled.
A great meat market is a must.
i get beef liver at a market on Beltline at Josey.

Nothing disgusting about L&O.. Being from the South that was a normal meal. Didn’t appreciate it as a kid but eat it now and then at cafeteria restaurants.

You might see if Sweet Georgia Brown restaurant in South Dallas has this on their buffet. (My VPN was blocking the websites from popping up.) Recent article in the DMN.

Sweet Georgia Brown restaurant in South Dallas doesn't.

That's Oak Cliff. Is that even safe to go there?

When I squirrel hunted with my dad and grandad, they'd mix the squirrel brains with scrambled eggs. I never could do that...
