Five Years Since Hurricane Ike
Well, I ran out to my buddies house in Katy to hide. I lot of wind but we had electricity
I came back home and I had to replace a roof, a fence and a BARBQue pit!
$14,000 Dollars... Thanks to my contractor...He is the best.
He can chime in if he wants so I won't brag on him.
So what was your Hurricane Ike experience?

On the second floor watching transformers blow up all over the place. Then 2 weeks no electricity. Lots of work though so kept me out of the house.

Twenty-four hours after the electricity went out, I loaded up the car and drove to the Hill Country, where I enjoyed five days of hot meals, cold drincks, and A/C.

Went to a friends house. he unexplicably had electricity when most of his neighbors didn't. Stayed there 8 days.
I remember waking at 3 AM the night it hit. I could feel the top floor of my townhouse rocking back and forth. It was then I wished I had left town.

Power was out an hour and a half. I live in Bellaire. The beer in my fridge didn't even get warm. Lost one rain gutter. Life is good.

New roof, new chimney, otherwise ok. I was like the Boy scouts, be prepared had two generators, kept everything going. No gas for hot water, but not a big deal. Only three days till the power got turned on.

Power came on the next day. Neighborhood was fucked up though.
A female friend spent the night because her ceiling caved in. Didn't try to fuck her though. Kinda wished I did.
