Default Questions about private messages

1. Is there a way to save a PM that has not been sent? It's fustrating to type a PM only to get the message that the recipient "exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space".

2. Why is there the option to send a "read receipt" when opening a PM. I have several sent PM's in my folder that show as unread. I don't know if they are unread or if the recipient just didn't click the receipt button. This leaves me with the question of whether or not I should re-send the message because maybe it didn't go thru.

For question 1...

What you are referring to is the ability to be able to save drafts. The PM system here does not have that ability. What you could do is to compose the PM into a text document on your computer first. Then when you are ready to send it simply copy the text from the document and paste it to the PM and then send it. Yes, that may seem cumbersome but at least you will have what you are asking for.

For question 2...

When you open a PM in your Inbox and that window displays the message about sending a read receipt, that is caused by the the sender of the PM checking the option Request a read receipt for this message on the page where the PM was composed. If that option was not checked, then that message will not display.

Yeah but on his question about how can he tell if the message has been read if the RECEIVER chooses NOT to click yes to the confirmation--->I sometimes do that. I'll read the note but get tired of that confirmation pop-up all the time. So I just click cancel. Will the sender still know if I read it or not if I never confirmed I did?

If you do not confirm that you have read the message by clicking OK on that message box then I do not think that the sender will know that the message has been read.

Thanks, Tia. That is exactly what I was talking about.

Mokoa, thanks for the replies. I don't like the "Read receipt" pop up. I seems like once a PM is opened it should show as "Read". JMO.

I do it the opposite way from what Mokoa suggested. I compose the message, hit control A to highlight it all, and control C to copy it to the clipboard. Then I sent it. If it goes through then I don't have to worry about it. If it doesn't then it is in the clipboard and I can paste it into a text file.

Another shortcut to saving a "draft" is merely send it to yourself.

Put something into the subj. line as a reminder so you know the original intended addressee

Very true. You can also BCC(blind carbon copy) the message. Just include your name in the BCC box after you click it and it will send a secondary copy to yourself at no extra charge.
