So then Hegseth is out??!! Cool! I missed that part.
The idea of that alcoholic turd addressing an experienced group like that is absurd all by itself. But it is nowhere near as fucked up as the idea that he commands them. And that he is only superseded by a cognitively impaired moron.

I don't care how much alcohol he consumes. If you think that matters, you should look into Churchills drinking habits... or the drinking habits of the Continental Army leadership... hell when I enlisted drinking and driving on post was still a hobby. But the really funny part is you think the Flag level officers are some sort of geniuses. How many wars have those officers successfully won combined? I'll wait... because counting to zero may be a difficult concept for you.
That has to end.

Apparently you think you're smarter than the Framers. Not a particularly unique trait amongst the leftists. Your side of the aisle has never been shy about overestimating their own smarts. So you are against civilian control of the military? Seems kind of fascist to me that you'd advocate this group of experienced generals should tell the civilians how to run the military. My advice is you bone up on your Federalist papers....

Who won the popular vote and the electoral college. In the words of some clown... elections have consequences. Face it the cognitively impaired moron beat the best that your side has to offer... lol
Does it hurt where Donnie touched you?

Both you and JB Pritzger seem to be on that exact same kick these days.
And yet, there was F Joe O'Biden for all those years.
A total open layup and ya both flopped it.
Since being infallible seems to not be in the cards for both of you, might I suggest Being Mortal? No seriously, it's a related book by Atul Gawande.

Man-o-man!! A small part of me is honored at the attention I've gotten here! I'm being motherfucking tag-teamed! Awesome! Cage Match is next!
But, seriously, to paraphrase, are y'all hurt where Eaton touched you?
I'm switching to over to MAGA so I can have it both ways. I can whine about "meritocracy" and then defend the dumbest choice for SecWar (sic!) in my lifetime. And also his boss, who once again, embarrasses himself and all of us, with yet another senseless old man's rant in a high profile situation.
Then again, I've got to sleep.

So let me see if I get this argument right: Grant was a drunk. Many others in the military are too. You're obviously okay with that. And Hegseth's history and blatant lack of qualifications. Hmmm. My standards might be a bit higher. And saying that it is okay that someone is an asshole because a bunch of other people were assholes too isn't the best argument.

Umm. Please tell me. What the fuck do MY "sins" have to do with this? I've never run for office. I've never sought a Cabinet-level appointment. I've never maintained that I could be any kind of competent leader or commander. Just because I would suck at this doesn't mean it is okay for them to! The same with people serving in these positions in the past. Yeah, many of them sucked shit. I'm fucking sick of it. But it continues in an even worse way! Jesus Christ. Again, standards. Let's have some!
The non-sequiter comparisons of me to Pritzger and "the Framers" are bizarre. Though you both seemed determined to steer it that way, this isn't really about me. I do thank you for the attention though! But still, tearing me down isn't helping make a good case for your guys.
Oh. BTW. I never fucking said I was "against civilian control of the army" either. But putting words into the mouths of others is SOP here, an all too typical desperate fallback when there is no real logic to defeat a valid point or three.
The best part of this, as with so many things that MAGA does these days, is that the obsessive, unquestioning defense of fools like Hegseth and Trump continues to erode the vanishingly small amount of credibility that you have left. Please continue!

I'm not sure what I think of Hegseth. Trump appointed him because he likes the way the guy looks. I don't think he (Trump) is a homo, he just prefers to work around attractive people.
Anyway Hegseth's certainly nowhere close to the worst presidential appointment of our lifetimes. Compared to Red Robert Reich, Robert McNamara, the neoconservatives during George W. Bush's terms, and Elizabeth Warren's White House picks in the Biden presidency, Hegseth looks downright outstanding.
And don't be so hard on yourself. You'd make a much better Secretary of HHS than RFK Jr.

It seems to me that Hegseth is not concerned with how efficient or effective the military actually is and is more concerned with how it looks instead.
The military, like any large organization, relies on a well managed system. Hegseth doesn’t really seem like someone with the requisite knowledge and experience to pull that off to me.

Nor have we insinuated you would.
As such, we are obviously standing on solid common ground.
But I do agree with Hegseth and Trump that the era of fat-azzed soldiers and DEI is D-O-N-E. I'm also kinda partial to the whole warrior ethos thing and physical fitness angle.
But if the standard is to carry a 100 lb rucksack for 5 miles, then that is across the board, i.e. man or women or it-thing, 'cepting maybe for tippy-top brass, in spite of the obvious fact-certain that Hegseth could meet that requirement.
Having said that, there might be some wiggle room for lower physical standards for jobs that do not require it, but that would obviously need other "limiters", which might mean lower pay scales and reduced opportunities for advancement etc.

I don't care about personal mores (drinking, smoking, who you fcuk) I care about outcomes. Nothing else matters in the military.

What I got from the meeting is that wok-ism is out. Our war machine will again become a meritocracy.
So what is the big deal?

Meritocracy was on full display with all the brass, ribbons, and hard fought-n-won medals that were on display.
Whole thing could have been done on Signal app and saved $$$, time, low risk to country defense.

So skirt chaser, and threat and threat to brothers in arms don't count? Churchill had military experience far and wide ranging from countries Cuba, India, Sudan, and South Africa. And we won't talk about contributions in WWI and WWII. He had setbacks but more than made up for them.
And what say you about the Framers and the current admin? Theif! Dictator! Tyrant! KING!
I think someone else should bone up on Thomas Paine et. al. E Beaver don't.
Hegseth is just a mouthpiece for the current thugocracy. I didn't even take into account the pretty boi standard that others mentioned here.

I'd like to see where the maggies can show that a woman, trannie, whatever pisses off the rightie rights has actually caused a failure in a combat event just because of said thing.

I would have preferred Rand Paul or Bernie Sanders, but it is what it is. True, Hegseth doesn't have prior experience leading a huge, bureaucratic organization.

Imagine if Norman Schwarzkopf was around, he didn't put up with any Bovine Scatology. Think he would have a few words for Hegseth.
