Per chatgpt -Operating a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier and a supporting destroyer on the water for one day costs approximately $7 million to over $8 million, primarily driven by the high operational costs of the carrier.

Why should the United States taxpayers pay $8 million a day to babysit the straight? We didn't have to do that before all this bombing. It seems like a very short-term solution to a very long-term problem - exacerbated by Trump's latest follies. That doesn't make sense to me.

Lol. Of course it does. It just doesn't make sense to anyone who's educated on the subject.

Does that include you? If so, please elaborate on what doesn't make sense and why.

The topic of discussion is what military strategy is likely to succeed in gaining control of the Strait of Hormuz. You claimed to be "educated on the subject"? Evidently not.

All you did was object to the cost. Try to do better.

That's not actually the topic of the thread. Its just what you want to talk about since Trump failed to end the conflict quickly and Iran's leadership proved more resilient despite Trump supposedly "winning" weeks ago.

The operating costs alone render it ridiculously dumb and unrealistic. There's no need to elaborate any further. It's a non-starter, and it's DOA.

I'm not the one who needs to do better here. Get that message to your "president" post-haste.

You brought up the blockade, not me. Then when I respond, you tell me I'm off-topic? Are you serious?

The blockade - and anything else that ensues as a result of this conflict - is very much part of the topic of this thread.

Do you have anything intelligent to say about why the blockade was ordered from a strategic military standpoint? If so, let's hear it. JD failed. Show us you can do better. In your own words.

Hey, that's brilliant. Glad to see you actually care about "operating costs".

Could we apply your same brilliant, in-depth cost analysis to all those corrupt, fraud-ridden programs Democrats support, such as Obamacare and Medicaid? Could we agree by saying "the costs alone render (insert name of corrupt, fraud-ridden Dem program here) ridiculously dumb and unrealistic... no need to elaborate any further... a non-starter... it's DOA."

Thanks for helping me to sharpen my forensic skills, jayzee!

Are you correcting other-folks’es grammar, LL?

Apropos for a thread about stupid and illegal warfare by your favorite arsehole which is a guaranteed loss.

Yet punctuation policing is maybe the onley-est weapoun you hve in the battle against sanity.

Rock on, bro. That’s the topic of the thread.

Or defend this bullshit based on the merits.

The topic isn't the military strategy needed to gain control of the Straight of Hormuz. As I said, that's just what you want to talk about.

If it was, and if that was where his goal truly were that's where the efforts would have been this whole time. Alas, that wasn't the original mission.

There's no need to explore with you the positives or how to help it succeed. He has provided conflicting, rambling reasons for attacking iran. He has failed to destroy their leadership structure. He has failed to secure a coalition. He has failed to negotiate for peace. We can keep talking about how Captain Crazy has lost the plot if you'd like. The calls for the 25th grow.

OFF TOPIC... but I get it ... I wouldn't want to talk about the complete and utter failure trump has clusterfucked us into with Iran, either.

Wow. You're completely losing it now!

Let's recap... here's what you posted in #446:

Here's how I responded:

So obviously, the topic IS the "military strategy needed to gain control of the Strait of Hormuz". You're the guy who introduced it in this thread. It's what YOU wanted to talk about. If you didn't consider it to be on-topic, why did you bring it up in the first place?

Having brought it up, a reasonable person would eagerly welcome responses that advance the discussion and open up more questions about what military strategy can best gain control of the Strait of Hormuz, the topic you chose to draw everyone's attention to.

It's ok to admit you don't know enough about blockades or military strategy in general to engage in further discussion of the topic you raised. Why not do that - instead of making yourself look foolish by insisting the topic you just raised is suddenly off-topic?

It should go without saying that you are not a mod here. You lack authority to call a topic you just brought up "off-topic" as a means of avoiding real discussion of said topic.

Stay in your lane, Mr. Gristle. And please try to make sense.
